Today we’d like to introduce you to Amber Bell.
Hi Amber, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I started my own Transportation company, which is the first medical black-owned in Mississippi and Memphis. I have the medallion to those states. No one has ever done it. I got awarded that title in 2017. Then I became A&R with Universal Records and started my journey with putting out 3 books, I have my youth program called Cater to youth where we offer sports and mentorship programs as well. I am awarded for my humanitarian and service awards in Houston Texas, Hello Alice, as well as a Black History award. I got here with determination and just not giving up. It wasn’t easy, especially when you’re doing it honest.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
The road has not been smooth at all. I have been through financial issues, I lost family and friends that I thought I would never lose. I have had business owners steal from me and not give me the product I paid for. In this business, you have to be cautious and know it will be hiccups, but you just gotta get through it with your head up and know it is a brighter side that can be rewarding.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I am most known for my management skills with various artist I help brand and get them the best deal possible for their brand. I am known for being the only black-owned transportation company in Mississippi and Memphis. I am an author humanitarian. I am known for going hard for whoever I may encounter in this business. I believe in loyalty with my clients, also teaching them the ins and out of the business. I really care for my clients, it’s not just the business or money, it’s about really believing in what you want to achieve. I specialize in artist development, consulting, and branding. I am most proud of the growth, what I have learned from this business and how to navigate through the industry as a whole. I am proud of finally getting noticed for my achievements. I believe in passing the torch and opening up doors and having an impact on people. I want to reach people in a positive away to let them know your ideas aren’t crazy I believe in it. If you have one person believing in you, you can achieve it! What sets me apart from others is even if you tell me NO, I will find a way to bring it back in a positive way to make you see the outcome. We all have a voice; how do you want to use it?
Do you have any advice for those just starting out?
My advice would be use your voice, don’t be afraid to take chances even if no one believes in you, go for it can be a hit! They may not stand with you now but, in the end, you can achieve a win. Don’t be afraid to open your horizons to new things set new heights. Always be willing to learn from others and do your research as well. I wish I would’ve started out early instead of listening to people say I couldn’t do it. There is no telling what I would have done with the information I have now. It’s never too late. I am here now… Stay humble and just know what you want for your brand and stick to what works best for you.
