Check Out Allison Brady’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Allison Brady.

Hi Allison, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I was born in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania and grew up in Salt Lake City, Utah, and Farmington, New Mexico. Playing with video cameras from a young age helped me realize my interest in filmmaking. When I was in high school, my family relocated to Los Angeles where I joined the Broadcast Journalism class at school, studying under Geb Fisher. His guidance and instruction led me to pursue a Film & Media Studies degree at California State University, Los Angeles. Out of college, I started working in post-production as an editor. Since then I have been shifting out of post-production and spending more time on set. I have even moved to pursued other careers, but all roads have led me back to Los Angeles where I am living as a full-time filmmaker.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
All the places worth going to have hurdles along the way. I have my own share of obstacles. It is hard being away from most of my family while living and working in LA. But when I get a chance to work on a project near family, I take it! The relatable relationship struggle: I went through a challenging break-up that led me to prioritize my happiness and the dreams I wanted to chase for myself. The pandemic presented obstacles of course- filmmaking happens on set which is an in-person experience. Finding ways to create and connect with others during that time was tough, but the creative networking I did during the pandemic has brought so much value to my professional and personal life. I wouldn’t be where I am today without all the interference or the people who came into my life as a result!

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I create any kind of video content from feature films to social media content. I’m a Producer, Director, Assistant Director, Cinematographer, Sound Mixer, Production Designer, and Editor. Lately, I am most known by my peers for my specialization in Production Sound. I am most proud of the network of talented people I am so fortunate to work with on a regular basis. Filmmaking is a team sport and the teams I get to play on are some of the best! I am especially proud of the young filmmakers I’ve been given the opportunity to mentor and create with. Those before me supported my creativity and passion for film and I am blessed to be that support for others. What sets me apart from others is my attention to detail and work ethic. And my range of understanding and experience in various crew positions provides more opportunity for me to come onto a different crews depending on their needs.

Is there any advice you’d like to share with our readers who might just be starting out?
My advice for anyone starting out is to begin today even if it is with something small. Never ever ever give up. Consistency has gotten me further than anything else ever has.
