Check Out Alicia Zamora’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Alicia Zamora

Hi Alicia, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
Hello my names Alicia Zamora and I’m a journalist with my own publication Alicia’s Studio. The journey started after a memorable evening at a Wave to Earth concert. That night, I was captivated by the sheer energy and creativity I witnessed on stage. It was more than just a performance—it was a powerful reminder of the passion that drives artists to create. That experience inspired me to dive into a world where I could combine my love for writing with my passion for music. Ever since I was young, writing has been my outlet. I found joy in putting my thoughts and feelings into words, whether through poetry, short stories, or personal reflections. As a teenager, I began exploring music more deeply, writing reviews of my favorite albums and concerts. I enjoyed sharing my perspective and connecting with others who loved music as much as I did. However, it wasn’t enough for me just to write about music; I wanted to understand the stories behind the songs and the artists who created them. With that motivation in mind, I began reaching out to artists for interviews. I wanted to learn about their inspirations, their highs and lows, and how they create music. Each conversation helped me appreciate the hard work and dedication that goes into making art. These interviews also allowed me to build a community of talented creatives who shared my passion for music. Photography came into my life as a natural extension of my writing. Capturing live performances let me freeze those exciting moments and share them with others. Each photo was a way to capture the emotions and connections that happened during the shows. I loved being able to show not just the performance but the feeling of being in that moment together. I began my journey by gradually sharing my work on my blog, Instagram account, and my website. I often reflect on how much my first two interviews inspired and motivated me to continue pursuing my passion. I reached out to two incredible artists, Ted Park and Echo Huang, when I was just starting out and didn’t have much to show. Despite my lack of experience, they took a chance on me. Their willingness to be interviewed was a huge boost for my confidence. Encouraged by their support, I dove deeper into my craft. I started writing more in-depth reviews, attending and shooting more concerts, and conducting additional interviews. With each new experience, I learned and grew as a creator. Over time, I was fortunate enough to interview about 20 artists in my studio, providing a warm and intimate atmosphere for our conversations. Additionally, I connected with around 30 artists through Zoom, allowing me to expand my reach and share their stories with a wider audience. Each interaction has shaped my journey and fueled my passion for the arts even more. Once Alicia’s Studio was officially launched and gaining some momentum, I knew that I wanted to bring the community together in a more personal way. That’s when the idea for my first event, Midnight Melodies, struck me. The goal was simple: create an intimate gathering where artists could share their music in a welcoming atmosphere. Planning the event was both exciting and challenging. I reached out to talented artists I had connected with in my interviews and enlisted the help of close friends who were just as passionate about the project. The success of Midnight Melodies was a turning point for Alicia’s Studio. It confirmed that I was on the right path, creating something meaningful that resonated within our community. The event not only brought together artists and fans but also sparked new friendships and collaborations. I felt an overwhelming sense of gratitude for everyone who contributed—each artist who performed, each friend who helped organize, and every person who attended. Your support reminded me why I started this journey in the first place.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It has not been a smooth road, and that’s completely okay. Life often presents us with challenges, and I’ve come to believe that every struggle carries the promise of something good on the other side. It’s funny when I think about it—despite my severe social anxiety, I’ve found myself in the role of interviewing people and stepping out into social situations. This journey began with Alicia’s Studio, and I remember how hard it was to find my footing. Confidence felt like a distant dream, and the social aspect of conducting interviews often left me feeling vulnerable and exposed. I often found myself caught in a whirlwind of nerves. I desperately wanted to connect with the artists I interviewed, to share stories and create a meaningful conversation, but there was always an invisible barrier—most often, it was my own self-doubt that held me back. I would sit there, heart racing, painfully aware of my own awkwardness and timidity. Every time I struggled to break the ice, it felt like my confidence took another hit. Then there was that particularly dark moment in November when everything felt too heavy. I remember it distinctly: I had fought through the chaos of my thoughts, but on that day, I reached a breaking point. I was drowning in a sea of negativity, so overwhelmed that I was ready to give up. It was right after Midnight Melodies, an event I had worked tirelessly on. Instead of savoring the joy of what I had accomplished, I only saw the flaws. I kept thinking, “What if I had done this differently?” or “What if I could have improved that?” It consumed me. In those moments, I often compared myself to others on similar journeys, feeling like I was falling short. I’d look at their successes, thinking, “Wow, they seem so much further along.” This cycle of overthinking surrounded me like a thick fog, blurring my vision and limiting my opportunities. However, just when I thought I was completely lost, I recognized how fortunate I am to have such amazing people supporting me. My friends and fellow artists have been my unwavering safety net. Their belief in me shines brightly, even when my own light flickers. They never hesitate to step in whenever I doubt myself. It’s the little things—a shared laugh, an encouraging message, or just their presence—that have made all the difference. They believe in my vision, no matter how wild or unconventional it might seem, and their support feels like a warm hug during the coldest moments of self-doubt. No matter how bumpy the road has been, they are always like a guiding light by the side of the road, helping me navigate the twists and turns, ultimately leading me toward smoother rides ahead. Their presence has provided me with a sense of belonging and reassurance, which has been instrumental in my growth. Every shared laugh, every brainstorming session, and every moment of encouragement has helped me inch closer to the person I aspire to be.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I’m a journalist who loves to express my creativity through writing. I write music reviews and conduct interviews, always looking for ways to step outside my comfort zone. Right now, I’m working on the second issue of my magazine, and I’m also in the middle of creating a twelve-episode series. I don’t focus on just one thing; instead, I enjoy exploring different ideas that come to me. Among my accomplishments, I’m particularly proud of organizing an event called Midnight Melodies. It was a significant milestone for me, providing a platform for artistic expression and collaboration. I want to give a huge shout-out to the talented performers: Thomas Ng, Echo Huang, Keoni Usi, Seph Hz, Tealousy, and Andre Martin. Their support and belief in my vision made the event truly special. Additionally, I am incredibly grateful to my family and friends for their constant encouragement and for helping me set everything up. Their love and support are invaluable to me. When it comes to what makes me different from others, that’s a tough question to answer. I see myself simply as a regular girl from Los Angeles, navigating the ups and downs of life while chasing my dreams. My journey may seem ordinary, but it’s filled with passion, creativity, and an eagerness to learn and grow. Every experience adds another layer to my story, and I can’t wait to see where it leads next.

The crisis has affected us all in different ways. How has it affected you and any important lessons or epiphanies you can share with us?
The Covid-19 crisis has taught me some valuable lessons about life and following my passions. One of the most important lessons I learned during this uncertain time is the importance of not letting fear hold me back from doing what I truly want. Before the pandemic, I often found myself worrying about what others thought of my choices. Whether I wanted to start a new hobby, make a career change, or simply be myself, the fear of being judged kept me from taking those steps. It felt like there was an invisible wall standing between me and my dreams. However, as life slowed down during lockdown, I had a chance to think about what really mattered to me. I realized that waiting for the right moment or seeking approval from others was only stopping me from living authentically. I started to understand that no one cares about my dreams and goals as much as I do. This realization was freeing. It pushed me to embrace my passions and take action. I began to explore new projects, connect with people who shared my interests, and step outside of my comfort zone. Suddenly, what once felt intimidating became exciting. Instead of worrying about what others might think, I focused on the joy and fulfillment that came from pursuing my passions. This experience taught me that life is too short to be afraid of judgment. Everyone has unique dreams, and it’s essential to go after them. In a world that often pressures us to fit in, I learned that being true to myself is what truly matters. By following my heart, I not only enriched my own life but also inspired others to be brave in chasing their dreams. Looking back, the Covid-19 crisis was a turning point for me. It showed me the importance of living boldly and being authentic. So, if you find yourself hesitating to pursue what you love, remember this: only you truly care about your dreams. Take that leap of faith—whatever it may be. The world needs your unique voice and vision. Just go for it!
