Check Out Alex Caron’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Alex Caron.

Hi Alex, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
My story began when my mom and dad loved each other very much and OH uhmm you didn’t mean that far back in time right? I’ll start again, my story began around the time my parents divorced and my grandfather passed away. It was a very traumatic era in my life. Around this time I began watching movies like Blazzing Saddles, Monty Python and the Holy Grail, Mrs. Doubtfire, Liar Liar. I had fallen in love with the performances of Robin Williams and Jim Carrey and I loved these movies so much that during recess time I would reenact and impersonate some of my favorite scenes from these comedic movies. My teacher took notice and suggested that I audition for our school play Damn Yankees. After this, I really wanted to do improv and so my mom put me into an improv class in Bellflower, CA which is now a comedy club called The Stand Up. When I started high school, I joined the drama department and I would audition for the plays. I would audition for the more serious leads but I was almost always cast as the comedic relief. I did this all throughout my high school career.

After graduation, I was in and out of a few different colleges not really knowing where I was going. I was also in a few different rock bands. I began to take improv again and I signed up for places like Second City and the Groundlings. I then found an acting school (Theatre of Arts) through a friend who recommended it to me and I sent my auditions in and I got accepted! I studied acting for film and television, scene study, voice and movement and I even took a stand-up comedy course which I loved! I took everything I knew from that school and I started producing my own monthly comedy show in Downey called Cheaper Than Therapy at an art gallery called Stay Gallery. I’ also started a sketch comedy group with my friends. I still strive to be a better actor and comedian and I goal/dream is to become a working actor.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It has definitely not been a smooth road. I’ve learned that starting projects with people in general can be very tough if no one is on the same page. I still struggle with some acting techniques but of course, I’m still learning so I can’t be too hard on myself.

It’s also tough to not have the full support you’d think you would get from people who are close to you but that’s ok because people’s opinions don’t pay my bills.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I guess I’m known for my impressions, my stand-up comedy shows, and my acting. What I’m really proud of myself is my creative brain never stops working and in this case, my monthly comedy show that I produce. Saturday, December 3rd will be the 5th comedy show I’ve produced with the help from my family and friends. It will be at the Stay Gallery in Downey.

Is there something surprising that you feel even people who know you might not know about?
Most people don’t know that I have two-uvulas! Kinda looks like a ball sac or some I’ve been told?

I’m pretty open about myself especially in my comedy routines. So most people know most things about me. Not sure if that’s a good or bad thing!
