Today we’d like to introduce you to Alan Ortega
Hi Alan, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
“I was 21 and working at Patent Express when I started questioning what I wanted to do with my life. I decided to pursue a career as an EMT and went through the certification process. However, once I discovered the salary and the amount of overtime required to earn a decent income, I realized it wasn’t the right path for me.
Around that time, my dad mentioned that the plumbing company he worked for, Professional Plumbing Services, was hiring. I joined the team and spent the next four years gaining hands-on plumbing experience. During that time, my dad kept encouraging me to start my own plumbing business and earn my C-36 plumbing license. I took his advice, enrolled at California State Licensed Schools in Van Nuys, and passed both the law and trade exams on my first try.
In 2017, I officially launched my business. It’s been a journey filled with challenges, moments of doubt, and a steep learning curve. There were times when I felt overwhelmed and unsure of what to do, but I kept pushing forward, celebrating small victories along the way. Now, eight years later, I’m still in business, and I feel much more equipped to navigate the complexities of running my own company. While challenges still arise, I’ve learned that perseverance and adaptability are key to overcoming them.
Today, I’m proud of how far I’ve come and excited to continue growing and improving.”
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
“I would describe myself as a well-rounded plumber with expertise in a variety of areas, including water heaters, water lines, gas lines, and even full-scale plumbing installations for new homes. My team and I can handle projects from the ground up, ensuring quality and reliability every step of the way. However, what truly sets me apart is my personality and positive attitude. I strive to build strong relationships with my clients and builders, creating a collaborative and enjoyable experience that goes beyond just getting the job done.”
How do you think about luck?
I don’t think luck has played a big part in my life. What it has is an opportunity comes up, I seize the moment, capture it, move on with it, and on to the next one, and just… I’m just not afraid to step forward and move on to another chapter of my life.
