Today we’d like to introduce you to Ahmad Martin.
Hi Ahmad, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
As a kid, I would always love to make Call of Duty montages and even on this app called Vine. From there I always knew that I liked to edit videos, my brain always viewed them as another form of video games but something that’s never-ending because there are countless ways to edit a video. In High School, I bought my first camera which was a canon rebel t6i. At that time, I would just shoot all my friend’s portraits at school. At school, I was also playing sports and at the time I was more focused on sports than shooting full-time. So shooting was my passion but it was also my main hobby at the time until my senior year I pulled my hamstring in a track meet ending my career as an Athlete, waiting to heel I picked up my camera again and started taking pictures again. The whole summer my friends and I created countless content on Instagram and TikTok. Once my work started to get the traction that’s when the offers for music videos started to come in. I did my first music video and fell in love with the process of setting it up, editing and even just listening to new artists. Now I’m blessed to have built connections all over allowing me to pursue my passion and dream of being a Create Director.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Chasing your dreams will never be a smooth road. First my parents thought I was just running around town doing whatever and not really working towards something until they started to see it paying off when I would be flown out of state for jobs that I booked off social media. Your parents support is everything so to really not have them understand or support why I was doing was tough at first. Also believing in yourself is tough, you always want to compare yourself to others or u think it’s just easier to quit and get a regular job but it’s really not. All that hard work you put in is not for waste you gotta keep strong and keep going. Lastly a lot of people don’t understand how much time it takes to be a content creator, you have to always be outside in your field. If you not then it’s easy to get forgotten in this industry that is fast pace, so if your significant other can’t understand the time you have to put into your craft it creates unneeded stress. So I feel as a content creator coming up that’s a sacrifice you have to make
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I’m mainly known for my music videos and photos! I would say I post more of my music videos so that’s number one but I also still do studio photoshoots, graduation, lifestyle, concert photography and etc.
My style that sets me apart would be how clean I shoot my videos and the little effects I put on it, I think people start to recognize my style every day. They can confidently look at a video and know it’s me.
Where do you see things going in the next 5-10 years?
In the next 5-10 years I see myself running a Production Company that’s going to be killing it in the music video scene and then transition over to commercials and movies. In the production company, I would like to hire friends and family to provide them jobs if necessary and I will train them to their position as best as possible to make everything run as smoothly as possible. With the connections I make I hope to throw my own concert/festival with the artist I work with.
