Check Out Adelia Nazyrova’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Adelia Nazyrova.

Adelia Nazyrova

Hi Adelia, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
Hello! My name is Adelya Nazyrova, and I’m a ballet dancer.

I fulfilled my dream and now dance in an American company.

Like most children, I used to play in the yard with friends, dance. I also liked to watch dance movies but never thought about becoming a ballerina. One day, my mom found out that Kazan, which is my hometown, was a good choreographic school, and that’s how my friend and I decided to apply, and after a tough selection, they accepted me into the school.

The teachers straight away noticed my potential and musicality. I remember them telling me that I could make it far in this profession. That’s how my interesting journey in the ballet world began.

When I finished the 8 years at the Choreographic School, I entered the Kremlin Ballet Theater.

It was an exciting time; I danced in many classical productions. Swan Lake, Sleeping Beauty, Ruslan and Lyudmila, Giselle, La Bayadère… and so many other projects related to dance.

A new chapter of my journey as a professional ballet dancer began when I started to work at the Stanislavsky and Nemirovich-Danchenko Theater. For me full new experience, new repertoire, new team, new tours, new choreographers, all of that made me grow a lot as an artist.

But I always dreamed to live in America.

Of course, the decision to move to an other country was not easy. I had to build a whole new life; I had no work, I didn’t know much about where I was going to live, and the language was also a big challenge. But I needed this push in my life; I knew it was time for a new adventure.

And I knew taking this decision would make me grow and make me happier.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
This profession is definitely not for weak people; it is very challenging both mentally and physically. You choose this path from childhood and go through it with various obstacles, but as soon as you dance either in the studio or on stage you get so much joy that you forget what you’ve been through.

The process of working every day on different things is really interesting and rewarding.

Ballet requires character and inner strength.

In school, we are raised from childhood. For example, we stand in adagio, where, in the end, you have to hold your leg to the side for about two minutes. It’s very tough, but build you such a strong mental. You just stand, hold, and endure.

I remember how the teachers were demanding, but I stood and endured. Some girls would even cry at the barre.

I used to think that it would be easier later. And in some ways that all the work that I was giving would pay off.

I understood that it would just make me a stronger person.

In the theater, you work on yourself independently. The work in the theater is a bit different but also challenging because you don’t have anymore teacher that will push you to be consistent every day, and you just have to be disciplined and put yourself to work but also give yourself new challenges every day, in order to improve and grow.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
Now I dance in the American company —World Ballet Series. We tour different cities and perform Swan Lake. I love my profession, and I am grateful to my teachers who gave me the knowledge I have today.

The most exciting thing about my work is to learn new things every day about myself, discover new techniques, and work with different people that inspire me…

We live in a world that gives us so many tools to explore new horizons and enhance our knowledge.

We’d love to hear what you think about risk-taking.
Now, I intuitively understand whether it’s worth taking a risk and taking a leap into the unknown or not.

I’ve become more thoughtful about things. But it’s important to understand that with every risk comes the other side of the coin, which can either turn in your favor or not. But I believe that you cannot get chances if you don’t take the risks.

Lucky people are usually brave enough to throw themselves uncomfortable and unknown experiences.

Staying open minded is crucial, it allows growth, and learning from yourself and others.
