Check Out Abbey Scott’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Abbey Scott.

Hi Abbey, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I am a born and raised California girl who grew up in a musical family. My dad, Norman Saleet, is a songwriter and wrote for incredible artists like Selena, Air Supply, Art Garfunkel and collaborated with the Bee Gee’s. From a very young age, I knew I wanted to follow in his foot steps and have a career in music. I was very shy growing up so I kept my interests in music to myself until I was out of high school and it took a Speech Class in College to fully get me out of my shell. I knew it was now or never. I started sharing my talent with my friends and my family. My dad immediately took me under his wing and we started what you would call “Artist Development” in our home studio. We probably wrote and recorded over 25 songs and thats when I felt confident enough to share my talents with the world. I went on to write and record 2 full length albums, 2 Ep’s and countless singles including Original Christmas songs that I wrote with my dad. I have been writing and recording music as an Independent Artist ever since.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
There are always struggles along the way especially when you are following your passion. My dad instilled in me at a very young age that if you truly want something in life, there is NO option B. Option B is to go back to Option A and make it happen. Its a journey and you have to enjoy the ups and downs because its all a part of process. It makes you better at whatever you are pursuing.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I am a Music Artist and Songwriter. I love everything about music, it not only allows me to escape into a whole different world but it also allows me the courage to say things I probably wouldn’t say in “normal” life. Its therapeutic in so many ways. I love writing all kinds of music and some songs are very personal to me and others I get to play a role and thats the beautiful thing about creating something. You can make anything you want and its such an incredible thing when it resonates with someone else. I am most proud of NEVER giving up. It’s certainly not easy being an Independent Artist but I have always found a way to continue writing, recording, creating and getting my music out there. I had lots of success in the Live Streaming space on various platforms. Right now I am focusing on TikTok and utilizing the platform to get my music out to the world. I think what sets me a part from others is my drive and that I am always evolving. I don’t stay stagnant. I believe change is a good thing and I like to explore different sides of my artistry where others run from it. They think they need to have a “niche” or be known for one thing. I enjoy entertaining and all aspects of it whether its music as an artist or songwriter or host or live-streamer or even actress. I dare not say no to creativity.

Do you have any advice for those just starting out?
My advice for those starting out in the music or entertainment business is to NOT get discouraged. You are going to hear NO a lot but the only YES you need is from yourself. The funny thing is that you don’t have to wait for someone else to give you the opportunity. You can give it to yourself especially in today’s world. You can start your own LiveStream where you host your own show nightly, you can start your own YouTube Channel and share your talents with the world, you can make a series on Instagram or Tiktok or any platform, etc. You no longer have to wait for someone else to say YES. You can create your own stage and your audience is waiting. It took me a very long time to realize that and thank god I found it with Live Streaming.
