Today we’d like to introduce you to Koi Kadara.

Hi Koi, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I was born in Kenya and moved to Northern California in 2002 at the age of nine years old. I lived with my mother & brother until I moved to attend college in Washington State. My mother passed away in 2013 leaving my brother, my six months old daughter & I. After her passing, my life completely changed.

I was 21 years old trying to figure out how to survive with my child and younger brother. I had always had a desire to own a boutique since I saw my mom own one in Nairobi, Kenya when I was little. That is when the idea of my business Asanti By Koi was birthed. Asanti is my daughter’s name and it means “Thank you” in Swahili. I named it after her because she was my blessing from God and after my mom died, I realized how powerful her name really was to me. She was the reason I kept living and for that reason, I give Thanks to the Most High. I have devoted my life to spread Divines love.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Of course, the journey has been a roller-coaster ride. I have experienced the thrills, fear, joy, cries and excitement through it all and some at the same time. There are many factors that come when starting a business, majority have to do with finances. Willing to win some and lose some. Willing to take that leap and make investments that may or may not work out. One thing I have learned from this journey and still continue to know is no matter how hard it gets, I still continue to have “Fearless Faith.” Knowing that when one door closes, another one opens. Trusting that Divine knows exactly all that I desire and how to see it to fruition. My main job is to Trust & Believing that without a doubt.

My business is called Asanti By Koi Mantra T-shirts & Jewelry. I believe that as you become more spiritual and re-connect with your Divine God/Goddess, you begin to understand that nothing is a coincidence and everything has meaning. What’s next?
