Check Out Juan Espinoza’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Juan Espinoza.

Hi Juan, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
(1998, Venezuela, Bolivar City) Crazy from birth, lover of creativity and colors. Inherited from my mother from a very early age, I started drawing all the ideas that passed through my mind and always capturing in the last pages of the school notebooks my way of perceiving the world, hyperactive and spontaneous generating smiles with my occurrences.

My path in Graphic Design began when I was barely 11 years old, inspired by my brother who had been practicing with an editing software, thus my curiosity arose “If he can do it, why not me”, looking for tutorials on the Internet, I was polishing my knowledge reaching the degree of starting my own works (of course the first ones were horrible, but with dedication and commitment I improved a lot). After expanding my knowledge, I met a great artist Mike Mitchell, I was inspired by his funny illustrations and full of creativity, then I took the initiative to start but now in digital format, drawings that I had in an old notebook, refining details and finding a style of my own, something that identifies me anywhere. So began my journey in 2015 as an illustrator adopting the name of “JuanchoStyler” (of course before there were several but it is better than this is forgotten), at first I started collecting what I love most as food and comics (a real geek), it was also in that same year that I open my portfolio in Behance, sharing my projects and progress with the creative community of the world, I have also had the opportunity to collaborate with several artists.

In 2021, I have more than 90 projects, 16 of them highlighted in different categories, among them Illustration and a virtual store. My work is characterized by creativity and ingenuity, which give rise to the creation of fun characters, which were born from spontaneous ideas, but always with an impressive result, demonstrating that from “simple ideas great things can be done”. Thanks to this artistic environment, I have had the opportunity to grow and meet wonderful people, with whom I have shared experiences that have helped me to strengthen and love every day what I do.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
When I started, the main challenge was my PC, which was not able to support the performance of the programs making the work a bit slow and tedious sometimes because there were moments where the system got stuck and lost the whole process, although that was not an impediment; I always had a positive attitude: “if it got lost, that gives me the opportunity to do it better”. The truth more than a smooth or difficult path, I never cared, something told me that I could achieve it so instead of raising doubts, I lived and continue living the whole process without fear of success, over time I have received the rewards of my dedication and work giving me to understand that it is worth it.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am currently a senior graphic designer, illustrator and animator, I am known for my illustrations which have a characteristic style loaded with color and creativity, these have given me known in different parts of the world taking my work to cross borders. I am really proud of my personal growth and of each of the projects I have done since they have served as a school to keep moving forward and get to where I am today.

Alright so before we go can you talk to us a bit about how people can work with you, collaborate with you or support you?
