Today we’d like to introduce you to Jasmina Hdagha.
Jasmina, we’d love to hear your story and how you got to where you are today both personally and as an artist.
I was born in Croatia. My mother is Croatian and when the war started in ex Yugoslavia my family moved to Libya 🇱🇾 that’s where my father is from even though I can’t call him a father as I don’t have one nice memory about the man but that aside…here is a little story that was written about me so you get an idea, and now I still act n do modeling, but I’m mainly teaching yoga.
Jasmina Hdagha was born to the blue Croatian coast where she spent her first three years until moving with her family to the wilds of North Africa, where the Sahara warmly kissed her and the sea, it was here that her and her three sisters played with scorpions and soccer balls in 55C(131°F temperatures until the age of 16 when her family returned to Croatia, and she was discovered after school walking on the street by a woman that asked if she had ever modeled, her answer barely mattered- she was all over international billboards for Pozella stockings by months end. The barrage of attention and interviews that accompanied Hermes, Calvin Klein, Missoni and Hilfiger, Diesel, Jean Paul Gaultier, Mathew Williams, Issey Miyake campaigns & GQ, Cosmo, ELLE and Marie Claire covers was a whirlwind that brought her from her studies of math and physics at the gymnasium lucijana vranjanina to the fashion capitals in Milano, Manhattan and London and shoot locations in Malaysia & Indonesia or the television production in Cairo that had her climbing the pyramids only to be escorted down at gunpoint-Jasmina quelling the authorities personally in perfect Arabic-and Paris where she began her studies in acting arts. The warm foundation that Paris offered amongst its young art community is where Jasmina found herself truly learning not just about the craft she practiced but the life that would feed the craft.
After working around the world inside an elite ring that included Karl Lagerfeld, Ellen Von Unwerth, and David LaChapelle, giving her emotion to the fraction of the second becoming the faceoff global brands and commercial clients like Campari, Redken ,Samsonite and Phillips – Jasmina came to Los Angeles to study the elongation of the moment and it’s expression. Beginning with Larry Moss, then Christin Anderson Groh and Jeremiah Comey her talents became honed as she continues shining in both commercial and feature-length projects, furthering her interpretive arsenal.
Now I live in Los Angeles, and I teach yoga, but I’m still acting, modeling and writing my script as I would love to direct my movie, few movies.
We’d love to hear more about your art. What do you do and why and what do you hope others will take away from your work?
Well, I believe we are all artist in some way or another and my body and my mind is my art even though I do act, write, dance and paint but my body is my instrument and Yoga has been the balance and center of strength providing the daily shift of my rajas-tic state of mind into a more Sattvic place, connecting the body and mind which is the goal of yoga.
I love the endless joy of learning n listening to my body and watching daily how it changes, moving away from thoughts and Chitta Vrittis (fluctuations of the mind), seeing the future created out of the present, living moment to moment; breath by breath living in the NOW is the real art and moving through life with joy and ease being in the moment and allowing Life to unfold.
What do you know now that you wished you had learned earlier?
You must believe in your self and your art if you want people to believe in you and what you do as an artist some months you have tons of work and some you have none so it’s important to keep working on yourself always and to keep yourself busy and to have a side job or few jobs so you can keep moving forward manifesting your dream and most importantly never ever give up on your dreams n always dream BIG.
Do you have any events or exhibitions coming up? Where would one go to see more of your work? How can people support you and your artwork?
You can see some of my work on my Instagram account @jasmina_hdagha.
Or Facebook and I teach now only a few public classes at Namastday Yoga studio in Beverly Hills as I mainly do privates.
