Check Out Emily Morales-Cabrera’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Emily Morales-Cabrera.

Hi Emily, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I was raised in Chicago by Guatemalan Immigrant parents, who inspire me every single day to work as hard as I possibly can. My mom and my aunt both watched a lot of Novelas (Spanish soaps) and I would be glued to the tv with them as well. I was so moved by stories and the DRAMA haha also my dad loved film so I watched many movies with him. It wasn’t until I got the VHS tape of Cinderella with Brandy and Whitney Houston that it was clear to me that I wanted to perform for the rest of my life, my parents couldn’t afford classes and lessons but I continued to watch films, novelas, and tv trying to grasp on to whatever I could get for free on television. I went to Columbia College Chicago for Acting and minored in women and gender studies, it was a big deal to my parents to go to college and as soon as I graduated I was hit with the hard reality of this career path is not an easy one, a year into being graduated I met my managers Monica Molina and Janet Molina who both took me under their wing Monica is LA-based and the moment I got with them was the moment I decided that I would move to LA by 2020, I started booking more projects and started to really work, I was so happy then the pandemic hit. Regardless I still had a goal to move to LA, I was so motivated by Monica and Janet I felt like there was no other option, I moved in October, booked an amazing agent Kylie at Artistic Talent who has been nothing but kind and supportive with me, and booked my first LA job. Now here I am writing this interview knowing I am missing so much because really this journey has all the ups and downs and I know there is still more to come.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It has been a hard one but one that I love. If there is one thing I’ve learned is you grow from hardships. Being an Actor is like falling in love and getting your heart broken over and over again. It’s like meeting someone you really like and hope they want you just as bad as you do and then they get to decide and a lot of times it’s no, but then there is the one, the one that does pick you and you love that makes the journey worth it. My entire college years and even the year I graduated were the hardest. I was constantly auditioning and being told no, it was A LOT OF NO’s, My spirit started to get crushed and then 2019 came and something about those no’s makes you want to work even harder, so I did and I started booking a lot, started taking more classes, and even learned to accept rejection a lot lighter. I am grateful because if it wasn’t for those moments where I felt defeated, I don’t think I would get to the understanding of I AM ENOUGH. I feel like every actor should know they are enough no matter what the circumstances are.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am an Actress. I have been doing it professionally for about three years, I also model from time to time, and I also am a waitress! I am very fortunate to have gotten a serving job in the middle of a pandemic with people who are very kind to me I work at a family-owned Cuban spot called El Cochinito. I’ve booked commercials, some small tv roles, and web series. One of the more popular web series I was in is called Hot Summer Daze. I am definitely most proud of my move to LA, I’ve never lived outside of Chicago before and this was a scary one, I booked a project that unfortunately I am not allowed to share much information about because of an NDA but I am so proud of booking that in LA! It was my first LA job!

Can you talk to us a bit about happiness and what makes you happy?
Love, such a basic answer but it does. I do this thing where I will randomly yell “I LOVE LOVE” because as an artist, you do everything from Love, you do your work because you love it, you have your friends and family who you love and share the love with. Love is beautiful and we need more of it in this world. With love anything is possible.
