Check out Chef Beanz

Today we’d like to introduce you to Chef Beanz.

Chef Beanz, we’d love to hear your story and how you got to where you are today both personally and as an artist.
For starters, my real name is Quain Bevans Jr. and I am from Camden, New Jersey. In high school as well as college, my nickname was Q-Beanz and I’ve always been known to think outside of the box. I really enjoy cooking up different things in my mind that I want to manifest. One day at a summer cookout, one of my fraternity brothers (Omega Psi Phi Fraternity,Inc) gave me a chef hat as a gift. I became attached to this new item so people stopped calling me Q-Beanz and started calling me Chef Beanz. I became popular for the conversations and ideas that I would cook up. Unfortunately, my apartment burned down in 2017 when I was living in Newark, NJ. I lost all of my belongings, even my chef hat, but I never lost my creativity.

I reinvested into another chef hat as well as a chef coat and created “Intentional Consumption.” After working in education but feeling spiritually dormant on the east coast, I decided to take my talents out west. Los Angeles kept reoccurring so I had to take a chance on myself. Once I arrived to this unfamiliar city, my optimism quickly dwindled once I found out that my job and living situation both fell through. Slept in my car a little bit but I had to maintain my faith. I knew that I was in pursuit of a purpose driven life so quitting wasn’t an option.

Day by day, with a lot of endurance, ingenuity, and perseverance, things began to get better and better. Though the transition has not been the easiest, I still am unapologetically Chef Beanz everywhere I go. Whether doing motivational speaking to the youth, dropping bars at open mics, or even working out at Runyon Canyon, my presence is always felt.

We’d love to hear more about your art. What do you do you do and why and what do you hope others will take away from your work?
I created “Intentional Consumption” to help people lead with intent with not only what they physically consume but also the conversations that they have, the books that they read, and the energy that they ingest. I transitioned my daily in-person conversations to “Course of the Day” on my social media platforms where I use my personal life stories to deliver different messages with hopes to positively impact the trajectory of someone else’s life.

I also post vlogs from my experience living in Los Angeles as an artist to show people that there is strength in vulnerability. Naturally, I give off an angelic vibe but I still experience obstacles daily. I’ve just learned to view adversity in a different perspective but I know that my faith has gotten me this far so I leave myself with no other option but to be victorious.

What do you know now that you wished you had learned earlier?
My advice for other artists is don’t give up! We GO through it, we GROW through it, we GLOW through it.
YOU GOT THIS!
