Today we’d like to introduce you to Brian Donna.
Brian Donna AKA Don B. is a Haitian-American residing in Los Angeles. With several accolades in Track & Field as a Decathlete (NCAA Division 1 & Haitian National Team) and a growing social media presence, Brian wanted to represent his community through fashion, fitness and entertainment. He’s had successful collaborations from ASOS, Forever21 and more while reaching over 3 Million views on his fashion videos.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Everyone who has moved to LA, especially from the opposite coast, knows how hard it is. You’re not only leaving your loved ones but the old life that you were used to in order to pursue something else. I always tell people that LA isn’t for everyone. It’s grueling in every way – physically, emotionally and especially financially. But again, it’s all about your perception of what the big picture is and that can range from fame to something simple like needing new scenery. For me, it’s modeling and acting.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I’m an athlete, model and creative. I spent over ten years of training as a Track & Field athlete competing in Decathlon and Hurdles, and that’s what most people know me for. I’m now able to focus more on modeling and eventually acting. I’m proud of all the accomplishments that I’ve had as a runner and now I feel like it’s time to move on to the next endeavor. What sets me apart from others is my dedication and ambition. I’ve worked hard for everything I have, I don’t take shortcuts. I make it a mission to learn as much as I can about something, study it, and seek outside help if there’s something I can’t figure out. I’ve done it with sports and I believe I can apply a similar mindset to everything else.
Where do you see things going in the next 5-10 years?
To be honest, with everything going on, I’m not too sure what the industry will be like in the next few years. The world’s been crazy lately and anything can happen. Something that’s big now might not be big later. In any case, I like to think that there will continue to be more diversity and inclusivity in the coming years. I do think that social media will continue to shake the industry and will dictate how people, brands, and businesses operate.
