Brendice Hines of Leimert Park on Life, Lessons & Legacy

We recently had the chance to connect with Brendice Hines and have shared our conversation below.

Brendice, so good to connect and we’re excited to share your story and insights with our audience. There’s a ton to learn from your story, but let’s start with a warm up before we get into the heart of the interview. What’s the most surprising thing you’ve learned about your customers?
If you have great customer service, customers will still purchase from you even though they might not readily need your product. Customers love to hear your story and they will buy from you just because they like your energy so be positive.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Bredazzled is a community-driven brand that began in 2016 and has grown into a hub for fashion, accessories, services, and creativity. From trendy sunglasses, waistbeads, and stone jewelry to digital tools and resources for entrepreneurs, Bredazzled is all about bringing affordable quality, style, and empowerment to the community. We stand out because we don’t just sell products—we create opportunities, uplift culture, and inspire confidence. With every venture, Bredazzled stays true to its mission: helping people look good, feel good, and shine, while building a legacy rooted in community and innovation.

Great, so let’s dive into your journey a bit more. What breaks the bonds between people—and what restores them?
What Breaks Bonds Between People

Lack of trust – When honesty is broken, even small lies or betrayals can weaken the foundation of a relationship.

Poor communication – Misunderstandings, silence, or not feeling heard often create distance.

Unmet expectations – When people feel let down or unsupported, resentment builds.

Pride and ego – Holding onto being “right” instead of seeking understanding can push people apart.

External pressures – Stress, money, work, or outside influences can create tension that strains relationships.

What Restores Bonds Between People

Honest conversations – Speaking openly and listening without judgment helps rebuild connection.

Accountability and forgiveness – Owning mistakes and extending grace to each other repairs broken trust.

Acts of care – Small gestures of kindness and consistency show people that they matter.

Shared experiences – Spending quality time together creates new memories that strengthen ties.

Empathy – Choosing to see things from another’s perspective fosters compassion and healing.

At the core, bonds break when connection feels unsafe or neglected, and they restore when love, trust, and care are intentionally rebuilt.

Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
After the birth of my second child, I found myself overwhelmed, overworked, and on the verge of giving up on my business. Money was tight, and I could barely keep things going. With nothing left to lose, I took my last $100 and invested it back into my business. That small leap of faith turned into $480, and in that moment, I realized I couldn’t give up. That decision not only helped me sustain during one of my hardest times, but it reminded me why I started—because resilience and belief can turn even the smallest seed into growth.

Sure, so let’s go deeper into your values and how you think. What are the biggest lies your industry tells itself?
“You need big money to succeed.”
The truth: creativity, consistency, and community support often matter more than massive budgets. Many entrepreneurs build something meaningful from very little.

Okay, we’ve made it essentially to the end. One last question before you go. What are you doing today that won’t pay off for 7–10 years?
What I’m doing today that won’t fully pay off for 7–10 years is building a legacy brand and investing in community impact. Every pop-up event, every product I design, every connection I make in Leimert Park, and every digital tool I create under Bredazzled Tech is about more than quick sales—it’s about planting seeds for generational wealth, cultural preservation, and opportunities for others. The real payoff isn’t just money—it’s seeing Bredazzled still thriving a decade from now, creating jobs, inspiring young entrepreneurs, and continuing to prove that with resilience and vision, a community-rooted brand can stand the test of time.
