Art & Life with Stevie Teran

Today we’d like to introduce you to Stevie Teran.

Stevie, please kick things off for us by telling us about yourself and your journey so far.
I’ve always been inspired by entertainers. I love Judy Garland, John Travolta, Britney Spears, Slash, Patrick Swayze…and because of my inspirations I followed my heart beat to Hollywood where streets are paved with gold. Today I create dance, music, and film.

Can you give our readers some background on your art?
Most of the time, I’m just trying to make something that has my signature on it. Of course, I’m inspired by things I see and hear and experience. A lot of my inspiration comes from the pop world. I make dances, music, remixes, videos that are an extension of what I experience. I put my “Stevie” filter on it because I want to share my perspective. I like the idea of being the painter and the painting so I often star in my own work. My biggest goal is to entertain.

What would you recommend to an artist new to the city, or to art, in terms of meeting and connecting with other artists and creatives?
Say hi and introduce yourself. I have walked into many scenarios where I don’t know anyone. After I introduced myself, I felt better and I often hit it off with people. I have cultivated friendships, artistic partnerships, and working relationships because I said hi. You can do this in rehearsal, class, at shows, galleries, concerts, wherever!

What’s the best way for someone to check out your work and provide support?
Right now my most permanent presence is online. I have music I’ve produced on SoundCloud. I am a working dancer, model and actor, and I have random gigs all over town but you’ll likely catch me on stage somewhere in Hollyweird. I’m at The Avalon this month. 😉
