Art & Life with Stella Blue

Today we’d like to introduce you to Stella Blue.

Stella, please kick things off for us by telling us about yourself and your journey so far.
Writing has always been my emotional outlet. I’ve always had what I consider to be a “crowded” mind. Overactive imagination, anxious thoughts, and constant distractions have been flooding my mind since I can remember. While at first glance, most would consider me an extrovert, I would consider myself an introvert glued behind an extrovert mask. I am often stuck inside my head and wrapped up in my own thoughts. It wasn’t until I started taking pieces from my brain and pouring them onto paper that I found peace and stillness. From a young age, I have poured my emotions on to paper in the form of lyrics. At first, I thought of it as my therapy or diary, rather than songwriting. After I gained the courage to share what I have been working on, the visceral reaction from friends and family showed me that there was something there, beyond a rambling stream of raw consciousness. It still blows me away that my journal, my outlet for expression can be turned into a song that is interesting to listen to and relates to people.

Can you give our readers some background on your art?
I tell stories with my music. Situations I have found myself in, boys I’ve crushed on, parties I’ve been to, etc. are all sealed in the pages of my lyric books. My songs are like snapshots of moments, relationships, and feelings. When I go to my journal to write something down that happened, it flows onto the page in verses and hooks. I have a song for my first kiss, a song about what goes on in my brain, a song about jealousy, a song about striving for perfection, and so on. I use music when I’m sad, happy, hurt, in pain, and every emotion in between. I want people to listen to my music and feel something. I hope that my music can do for others what music has done for me. I will bare my heart to people and show every side of me. When writing, I don’t conform to a specific genre or style; I just let my brain do what it wants.

What would you recommend to an artist new to the city, or to art, in terms of meeting and connecting with other artists and creatives?
First of all, I feel my most creative when I’m on my own. The world is exhausting! One of the mantras I constantly tell myself is that being alone doesn’t mean I am lonely or on my own. Yes, I feed off of others energy and love to collab; however, I thrive when I am alone and able to sit with my thoughts in silence. I do think that as an artist, it is important to collaborate and connect with like-minded creative people, but I think this should happen organically. Instagram has made collaborating so much easier for me. I am constantly DMing people I think are talented and want to work with! I even DMd Kendrick still waiting for a response though 😉

What’s the best way for someone to check out your work and provide support?
I have a few songs that I have released, and a bunch more on the way. Right now, people can stream my music on any platform and can see my debut music video on Youtube! My website is the best place to learn more about me and stay up to date with what is coming next. Also, I will be playing as many shows as possible this fall!

The best way to support me at this point is to share my music and engage with my socials! Also, subscribe to my newsletter on my website to get all Stella Blue news first.
