Art & Life with Marco Gallico

Today we’d like to introduce you to Marco Gallico.

Marco, please kick things off for us by telling us about yourself and your journey so far.
I like to think about myself like an explorer, alley explorer, explorer of dynamics, explorer of the human soul. I was born and raised in a little town 30 miles away from Milan, grew up quite introspective, thoughtful, dreamer and observer. I left my country 3 years ago, I crossed the unknown to reach here, where I live now, in this city all to be discovered, full of terrible contrasts. I live disoriented and still observe.

We’d love to hear more about your art. What do you do you do and why and what do you hope others will take away from your work?
I do photography, different kind of photography, different projects, I’m not an organized worker when it comes to art, I follow the flow, my inspiration. I’m totally free, I answer only to myself. Sometimes I want to express loneliness, sometimes lust, sometimes I want to focus attention on the things we take for granted, forgetting about the poetry and beauty that they contain, sometimes I just want to reveal the soul of a person through a portrait. I am inspired by the contrasts, I am perhaps afflicted by contradictions. I think at the end all my work is a big contradiction.

Do you have any events or exhibitions coming up? Where would one go to see more of your work? How can people support you and your artwork?
I spend very little in public relations, this is what I most blame about myself… You can support me following me on Instagram, sharing/showing my work, giving me a push or an invitation. I live in LA but I’m not from LA, d’you know what I mean

Artists face many challenges, but what do you feel is the most pressing among them?
Be free! Free from conformity, free from everything is “trendy”, free from the “influencers”, free from this empty image of the world we have today. Artists should bring something real and deep. there are too many glossy images, too much positivism, cool places, cool food, cool jackets, cool people. It’s so boring to me. I want to be honest.
