Art & Life with Kibrom Ashebir Birhane

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kibrom Ashebir Birhane.

Kibrom Ashebir, please kick things off for us by telling us about yourself and your journey so far.
I guess my unique story is that since I was a little kid, I was connected to music in a special way and I hear the music around me passionately. Especially after I joined the Catholic monastery school when I was 12, I have learned the ancient Ethiopian Orthodox Holy chanting (Kidasse) alongside my academic studies. I believe that unique experience changed the way I see music and life in general.

Can you give our readers some background on your art?
I play multiple instruments, mainly Piano; I sing, Perform with different bands, I write and produce music. How I create music depends on the different seasons of life I’m in, because that’s where my inspiration comes from. I believe there is time for everything so I hope for people to listen to my music and feel hopeful no matter what seasons of life they might be in. My artwork, I believe it has authentic Ethiopian sound fused with the western music.

What responsibility, if any, do you think artists have to use their art to help alleviate problems faced by others? Has your art been affected by issues you’ve concerned about?
There is so much going on in the world; The role of artists should always be reflecting the society no matter what issues we are facing, and I believe we are the mirror of the people.

What’s the best way for someone to check out your work and provide support?
you can find my music on any online stores and for more information, you can visit my website at www.kibromusika.com.
