Art & Life with Jaime Valderrama

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jaime Valderrama.

Jaime, please kick things off for us by telling us about yourself and your journey so far.
My artistic journey began at a very young age. I was very inspired by my father’s drawings and incredible creativity. Throughout the years I’ve been exposed to different art mediums, techniques, life experiences, genres, and influences. I began creating art on a professional level in early 2016. My art is a reflection of my deep love for vintage sci-fi, holograms, impossible objects and the unknown. I create works that are beyond imaginations the journey continues.

Can you give our readers some background on your art?
Growing up in the 80’s and 90’s much of my work has a vintage and nostalgic look from that era. My work is a combination of elements I’ve had a fascination with throughout my life. The creative process starts with a vision or a dream. I create illustrations that are highly detailed. I incorporate impossible objects, holographic art, watercolors, prisma colors, and airbrush. Creating art gives me tranquility and an outlet to express myself. Through my artwork, I hope to inspire people and stimulate their imaginations.

Any advice for aspiring or new artists?
Continue learning new things and evolving into a better artist. Rejection and failure is part of the journey. This should give you the motivation to push even harder and follow your dream.

What’s the best way for someone to check out your work and provide support?
I have several festivals I will exhibiting my work in. Including the LATINO COMICS EXPO, DINK and The LA ZINE FEST.
