Art & Life with Alyssa Nicole

Today we’d like to introduce you to Alyssa Nicole.

Alyssa, please kick things off for us by telling us about yourself and your journey so far.
I am a wife and mother to three boys. I’ve been a stay at home mom for 13 years. Over the years I was trying to find who I was. I tried many different ways to express my personality, but it was one failed attempt after another. One day, my cousin made a comment about me always taking pictures of my kids, she said ” you should just become a photographer with all the pictures you take.” It got me thinking and the wheels in my head starting turning. I always had a fascination with cameras. Every year I bought a new camera just to keep up with the new technology, so little did I know the clues were there the whole time. So, I decided, hey! what the heck. let’s give it a try. I enrolled in Tri-Community Photography program in Covina. I took a few classes and learned my first DLSR camera, Canon Rebel. After a few months, it just felt like me. And 9 years later I grew a name for myself. Photography is my escape from the world. Seeing what I’m capable of creating for families to enjoy a lifetime is rewarding. It’s crazy to see how far I’ve come over the years. To see my images, evolve into these masterpieces that I could only imagine to create. I’m proud of all my accomplishments and I’m definitely proud of who I’ve become just by the click of a camera.

Can you give our readers some background on your art?
I am a Portrait Photographer. I’m a very creative person with a creative imagination. I see everything differently through my camera. I visualize the location setting, poses, lighting and try to customize a unique experience for my clients. I capture life’s most precious moments and freeze them in time to last a lifetime.

What would you recommend to an artist new to the city, or to art, in terms of meeting and connecting with other artists and creatives?
I am a carefree spirit. I always try to approach any other artist with a smile. Often at time others aren’t as friendly, but as long as I know I’m open to new connections, I’m fine. The world of photography is competitive. I’ve gained a lot of friends from it and I also lost some along the way. Just be you. Don’t try to change who you are to fit in or to be accepted. Photography is the doorway for making lifelong friends (clients). I’ve worked with tons of families over the years and what started off as just clients turned out to be the start of great friendships.

What’s the best way for someone to check out your work and provide support?
