Today we’d like to introduce you to Allison Kunath.
Allison, please kick things off for us by telling us about yourself and your journey so far.
I started my professional life as a graphic designer. Before I learned how dangerous corporate advertising can be, I had big dreams of communicating to the masses through design and branding. I lasted a couple years in the industry before I felt a strong pull back to analog art. I started with what I could get my hands on easily – an Etsy shop and my Instagram account. Today, my practice revolves around painting murals around the world and watercolor + acrylic paintings in the studio.
Can you give our readers some background on your art?
The short answer – I make art about connection. I find most of my inspiration in the people around me, and my relationships (to others, and to myself). I’m inspired by the process of understanding myself and finding ways to be more fully expressed in the name of deeper connections. Starting with my relationship to myself, I’m practicing honesty, clear communication and compassion. The deeper my art takes me in my self-work, the easier it is for me to go there with other people. My aim is to create moments to pause and consider our individual and collective roles in creating a more self-aware world that is liberated and truly connected.
What’s the best way for someone to check out your work and provide support?
