An Inspired Chat with Jazmine Valencia of Los Angeles

We recently had the chance to connect with Jazmine Valencia and have shared our conversation below.

Jazmine, so good to connect and we’re excited to share your story and insights with our audience. There’s a ton to learn from your story, but let’s start with a warm up before we get into the heart of the interview. What do you think is misunderstood about your business?
People tend to think there’s some “secret formula” to going viral, or they assume that anyone can run social media because they’ve posted on Instagram. What they don’t see is how much strategy, testing, audience psychology, and creative iteration goes into what we do. At JV Agency, we’ve been doing this for a decade—we’re not guessing. We know how to build real momentum for artists and brands, not just chase one-off viral moments. We treat marketing like a long game, because that’s what gets real results.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I’m Jazmine Valencia, founder of JV Agency—an artist-first music marketing agency that’s been helping musicians grow their audience and build real careers for over a decade. We specialize in digital strategy, campaign execution, and finding creative ways to cut through the noise. I started the agency because I was tired of seeing talented artists overlooked simply because they didn’t have the right marketing behind them. We work closely with labels, managers, and artists to build long-term momentum—not just viral moments.

More recently, I expanded into hospitality and opened a restaurant under VS Hospitality. It’s been a new kind of challenge, but at its core, it’s still about creating community and experiences that connect people—just like in music.

I’m also passionate about partnerships, storytelling, and helping brands find smart ways to stay relevant without selling out. Everything we do is strategy-first, with a real commitment to culture and creativity.

Great, so let’s dive into your journey a bit more. What was your earliest memory of feeling powerful?
I’ve been blessed to feel powerful as early as I can remember. I have a very supportive family and I’ve always been encouraged to follow my dreams and that has allowed me to be confident in pursuing my passions.

When did you last change your mind about something important?
I feel like changing my mind is something that happens everyday. Sometimes new information comes in or something changes. While running a business, you have to be ready to pivot and adjust at any time. It’s important to always be open to change and to be open to feedback with everyday decisions.

So a lot of these questions go deep, but if you are open to it, we’ve got a few more questions that we’d love to get your take on. What’s a cultural value you protect at all costs?
Honesty. I think it is extremely important to be transparent and honest. It is the only way that we can be creative and move forward with change that will actually matter.

Okay, we’ve made it essentially to the end. One last question before you go. If you knew you had 10 years left, what would you stop doing immediately?
As we celebrate the 10th year anniversary of my company, JV Agency this year. These questions of reflection have come up often. I’ve spent the past 10 years helping artists grow and follow their dreams of being successful musicians, that’s something I wouldn’t change for the world. I think if I knew I could only do it for 10 more years, I wouldn’t necessarily stop doing something immediately besides maybe less screen time, but I would pivot my time to do more things that I enjoy personally such as volunteer helping animals, I think it would be fun to spend less time working and more time giving back to our community!
