An Inspired Chat with Grace Hancock

We’re looking forward to introducing you to Grace Hancock. Check out our conversation below.

Grace, it’s always a pleasure to learn from you and your journey. Let’s start with a bit of a warmup: What are you being called to do now, that you may have been afraid of before?
I’m being called to viciously maintain this alignment I’ve tapped into—the one I used to be afraid I couldn’t hold. The inner and outer life I’ve crafted for myself was forged with blood, sweat, and a structurally unsound amount of caffeine. The idea of ever going back to a half-life makes my skin crawl in the best way.

I’ve tried several iterations of society’s version of success. I’ve embraced the roles, the rules, the conditioning. Hated every second. Once I gave myself permission to burn it to the ground and build it better, there’s no going back. The red pill offers no refunds. Now I wake up every day and choose myself, recklessly. We love a sustainable rebellion.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I’m Grace Hancock, an actor, dancer, artist, and the founder of THE ENERGETIC EDIT, where I use energy work, EFT tapping, somatics, and subconscious repatterning to help my clients get back to their most whole, fulfilled, and authentic selves. Everything I do lives at the intersection of expression and transformation. My art is how I metabolize the world, but I’m obsessed with what happens underneath the story: the subtle energy, the nervous system, the subconscious patterns that are not-so-quietly running the show.

I’m a total nerd for the science behind it all—physics, physiology, psychology—and I’ve spent years and hundreds of hours with clients refining a system that targets trauma, limiting beliefs, and subconscious loops from every angle. I want people to experience the same radical self-reclamation that I did, and I got there doing this exact work.

Great, so let’s dive into your journey a bit more. Who were you before the world told you who you had to be?
I was a joyful, fiery, wildly curious, deeply sensitive kid with an old soul and an unreasonable appetite for everything. I wanted to experience it all, feel it all, create constantly—performing, writing, building. I understood energy long before I had words for it. I could feel what people weren’t saying; I was unnervingly intuitive and endlessly curious about the human experience.

Unfortunately my upbringing wanted to sand me down—smaller, quieter, more digestible, more traditional. Every version of that made me less me. So I spent years undoing it. Getting back to her, to that original version of self, is my greatest accomplishment to date. Undoing decades of trauma, programming, and conditioning is just a Tuesday now.

When did you stop hiding your pain and start using it as power?
Probably when it stopped working. I started getting really sick. My inner world began swallowing my outer world—I was in and out of the ER, seeing these big-time specialists, I had to have surgery, no one could really figure me out. I think it was my body letting me know the structure underneath me wasn’t fully mine. That’s why I’m so passionate about this work: it gets to the deepest layers—the abscesses—so you can rebuild on solid ground. The body keeps the score, and mine was like, “nah.”

As awful as that period was, I’m grateful for it. Desperate times call for desperate measures, and everything was so unhinged that shifting course became inevitable. I started using what I’d been through as data instead of shame. That’s the heart of THE ENERGETIC EDIT—your nervous system and your subconscious aren’t the enemy. They’re the lighthouse you keep crashing toward when everything else goes dark.

I think our readers would appreciate hearing more about your values and what you think matters in life and career, etc. So our next question is along those lines. What are the biggest lies your industry tells itself?
That nervous system regulation is about calm. It’s not. I don’t want you calm, I don’t want you complacent, I don’t want you numbed out—I want you present. Real regulation is about capacity. It’s about being able to hold more—more awareness, more visibility, more aliveness—without shrinking and without your system short-circuiting. This is why I call this work a rebellion. When we have healed, whole people who can stay present through activation, we are absolutely unstoppable.

That’s the DNA of THE ENERGETIC EDIT. Calm is a nice byproduct of this work, not the work itself. The point is expansion, helping people build the capacity to actually live inside the extraordinary lives they’re calling in.

Okay, so let’s keep going with one more question that means a lot to us: What is the story you hope people tell about you when you’re gone?
That I did it my way, and that I made people feel more alive, more seen, and more joy while I was here. That I built things that helped them remember their power. I hope people say I showed them what it looks like to live from authenticity, not performance or perfection, but actual freedom without apology.

To me, legacy isn’t about what you leave behind; it’s what you activate in others while you’re here. If any part of me, my work, or my story helps someone remember who they are, that’s an incarnation well spent.
