An Inspired Chat with Amy Goldberg of West Hollywood

Amy Goldberg shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.

Good morning Amy, it’s such a great way to kick off the day – I think our readers will love hearing your stories, experiences and about how you think about life and work. Let’s jump right in? What do the first 90 minutes of your day look like?
Whether I feel like it or not, I don’t allow my brain to dictate, I go for a run or some kind of workout because I know it’ll set me up for the day. That run or workout almost always ends at my favorite coffee shop where, my sweaty self walks home with my morning coffee. There’s nothing quite like the quiet of the morning, birds chirping, fresh air, and a sense of calm..

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I’m pretty active in my work-life as a producer, writer, editor-in-chief, and founder/CEO of PushBack Productions. The common theme being that I’m designed to create in some way – dedicated to crafting stories, experiences, and conversations that move people to think differently, act boldly, and connect more deeply.

I enjoy challenging the “usual” and leaning into the power of storytelling to spark change. Whether it’s producing content for thought leaders, building platforms that amplify women’s voices, or bringing powerful events and publications to life, the work is all about creating impact with meaning.

Right now, I’m working on projects that bridge wellness, creativity, and empowerment, from digital magazine publishing to hosting conversations with global change makers. I’m driven by bold ideas finding their voice, and where audiences find the stories they didn’t know they needed.

Appreciate your sharing that. Let’s talk about your life, growing up and some of topics and learnings around that. What breaks the bonds between people—and what restores them?
From early on, I was fascinated by what makes people connect, and just as importantly, what makes those connections fall apart. Growing up, I noticed that bonds between people often broke when trust was eroded, when communication got replaced with assumption, or when we stopped really listening to each other. Sometimes it’s not even the “big” moments that cause the fracture, it’s the accumulation of small misunderstandings, unspoken hurts, or feeling unseen.

What restores those bonds, for me, always comes back to truth and presence. The truth might be uncomfortable, but it clears the air. And presence, being fully there with someone without distraction or defense, rebuilds a bridge faster than any perfect speech.

My early influences taught me that restoration doesn’t happen through grand gestures; it happens through consistency, compassion, and the willingness to see the other person without the armour. That perspective has shaped not only my relationships, but also the way I lead my work.

If you could say one kind thing to your younger self, what would it be?
“Stop rushing to prove yourself. You already are enough, let the world catch up to you.”

Alright, so if you are open to it, let’s explore some philosophical questions that touch on your values and worldview. Where are smart people getting it totally wrong today?
They’re mistaking intellect for insight. Being able to analyze, debate, or fact-check doesn’t automatically mean you understand the truth of a situation. Too many smart people live in their heads so much they forget the world happens in the body, in the heart, in the messy, irrational parts of life. They think they’re winning the argument, meanwhile, they’re losing the connection.

Okay, we’ve made it essentially to the end. One last question before you go. If you retired tomorrow, what would your customers miss most?
They’d miss that I don’t just deliver a project, I pour myself into it. They’d miss my ability to cut through the noise, get to the heart of their story, and make it hit home for the right audience. They’d miss the way I challenge them to think bigger, move faster, and take bolder risks, all while making them feel supported and seen. I’m not about just creating content, for me, it’s about creating momentum, and I think they’d feel the loss of that energy.
