Aaron , we’re thrilled to have you with us today. Before we jump into your intro and the heart of the interview, let’s start with a bit of an ice breaker: What do you think is misunderstood about your business?
One of the things most of us misunderstand about the business of providing live music for events is the fact that we love to be noticed as artists, showcase our magic, and make sure the crowd recognizes our talent… but unfortunately, this approach tends to result in becoming self-centered and forgetting that we are in the business of providing experiences.
We help people create memories; we are there to enhance their moments, so using all our talent and skills to create a perfect atmosphere without grabbing attention is the real goal of our business… like any other service provider… I believe we are here to solve people’s problems, not become one of them.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
This is me… I’m Aaron Copenhagen, a passionate Spanish guitarist based in Los Angeles with over 25 years of experience turning ordinary events into extraordinary memories through live music. Drawing from my Argentinian roots and influences like Vicente Amigo, Paco de Lucía, and Santana, I blend the fiery rhythms of Flamenco, the smooth vibes of Latin Jazz, Bossa Nova, and even classic rock into custom performances that captivate any crowd.
I’m all about crafting soulful, tailored experiences for weddings, corporate gatherings, private parties, concerts, and even heartfelt memorials.
What makes it special? With a repertoire of over 400 songs, multilingual vocals in Spanish, English, and Portuguese, and the ability to add percussion for extra energy, every set is uniquely designed; often spending 5-10 hours on custom arrangements to ensure rhythmic precision and emotional depth. Backed by degrees from the LA Music Academy and S.A.E. Institute, plus global performances, I’m not just a musician; I’m your full-service event partner, dedicated to sparking joy, connection, and unforgettable moments without missing a beat. If you’re planning an event, let’s make it magical!
Appreciate your sharing that. Let’s talk about your life, growing up and some of topics and learnings around that. What breaks the bonds between people—and what restores them?
People are always looking for experiences, integrity, honesty, and what I like to call value for value.
I will pay for your service if your service is worth paying for.
So, customer service and a hassle-free experience are my main focus.
When people feel that you honestly care about their needs, they react in a very positive way, and when you receive a positive reaction from the crowd, the music interaction becomes magical for both parties. Keeping it real is what makes the experience unforgettable and definitely creates a strong bond that cannot be broken.
What did suffering teach you that success never could?
I wouldn’t call it suffering, because I believe true suffering arises when you don’t understand you are the architecht of your current situation.
Once you gain clarity and see the path ahead, there’s no such thing as a bad situation; only moments rich with lessons to be learned.
When everything goes according to plan, we often just pat ourselves on the back and keep moving forward without reflection. But when things veer off course, that’s when the real growth happens: we start analyzing, reassessing what went wrong, and adjusting our trajectory. These are the best opportunities to evolve and correct our path.
I don’t see suffering in those challenges; instead, I see invaluable chances for personal development, especially for those who embrace the idea that the journey never truly ends. What adversity has taught me that success never could is the power of resilience, self-awareness, and continuous improvement, turning obstacles into stepping stones rather than roadblocks.
I think our readers would appreciate hearing more about your values and what you think matters in life and career, etc. So our next question is along those lines. Is the public version of you the real you?
What you see is what you get. When I post a video, showcase my portfolio, interact with a client, quote someone, or perform live, I’m not trying to sell you anything. I love what I do. If you have a positive reaction and a great experience, you’ve made my day. When things don’t work out for you, they definitely don’t work out for me either. Again, the core of my business is value per value, genuine authenticity in every interaction, ensuring the public version of me is indeed the real me, without any facades or hidden agendas. Pretending to be someone else is a waste of time and energy.
Okay, we’ve made it essentially to the end. One last question before you go. Could you give everything your best, even if no one ever praised you for it?
I’ve been doing that all my life. Experiences are personal, and if you don’t value your time and energy, no one else will. Looking for approval is the fastest way to take the wrong path. You cannot be honest, and provide a great experience, unless you are willing to give your 100% always. Thank you so much for giving me the space to share my views.
