Life & Work with Zoe Hennessey of Hollywood

Today we’d like to introduce you to Zoe Hennessey.

Hi Zoe, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I started in New York City where I spent over a decade assisting top stylists on editorial shoots, commercials, and red carpet jobs. After I moved to LA, I began breaking off on my own, but I found it hard to maintain a consistent income. Eventually, I branched out into personal styling and shopping. Over time, I found a rhythm doing both commercial and personal work. Each offers something different, but both are equally rewarding.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
No, it hasn’t been a smooth road. The biggest hurdle has been maintaining consistent work and making enough income as a stylist. Taking on personal shopping clients has been extremely beneficial, and I’ve come to truly enjoy both aspects of the business. Shooting commercially is a challenge and can be incredibly stressful, but I love working on big projects with full crews, on sets, and in studios. It always feels a little magical, and it is interesting to meet so many different creatives along the way.

Working one-on-one with people is rewarding differently. My clients are incredibly appreciative of what I do for them, and it feels meaningful to know I am helping someone feel good about themselves. I am always going to worry about the future as a creative, but I do feel more secure now doing both.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I work on commercial and advertising shoots, and also with personal clients who need help refining their wardrobe or shopping for key pieces. I started doing both out of necessity, but over time, I’ve come to enjoy the balance.

Most of my styling work is advertising. I love being on set, working with big creative teams, and seeing a concept come to life. It’s fast-paced and stressful, but also really fun and exciting. On the personal styling side, it’s more intimate. I work one-on-one with people to help them figure out their style and feel good in what they’re wearing.

What sets me apart is that I listen and really try to understand what someone needs, even if they’re not sure how to say it. I’m fast, organized, and I know how to find the right pieces for all body types and budgets. I’m proud of the range of work I’ve done and the trust I’ve built with both my commercial clients and my personal ones.

How can people work with you, collaborate with you or support you?
People can work with me by reaching out directly through my website zoehennessey.com or Instagram @zoehennessey. I offer styling services for the commercial and entertainment industries, including photoshoots, music videos, celebrity appearances, advertising, television, and brands. I also work one-on-one with individuals as a personal stylist and shopper, whether for an event, a trip, or a closet refresh.

For collaborations, I’m always open to working with other creatives, brands, or content projects that fit my style and what I do.

The best way to support me is by sharing my work, referring me to someone who might need help, or following along on social media. Word of mouth has always been the most powerful tool for my business.
