Rising Stars: Meet Vanessa Branda of Los Feliz

Today we’d like to introduce you to Vanessa Branda

Vanessa, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
In 2020 I picked up my phone and started speaking. Creating content was a way for me to navigate the changing landscape of a nation in the middle of a global pandemic. I never imagined that I would connect with over 100k people on a daily basis, but as the channels grew so did my mission. My community was activated to make changes and their support inspired me to get more involved. We raised funds for Planned parenthood and No Kid Hungry, gained thousands of signatures for petitions about women’s rights and climate change. As that work grew, so did my role as an activist.
This year I had the privilege to speak on a panel at Comic Con San Diego about creating content, I made e feminist film about domestic violence that premiered at the TCl Chinese Theater in Hollywood and I was invited to the White House to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the Violence against Women’s act. Creating content has taken me places I never imagined, and I’m just getting started!

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
I don’t think there is a smooth road to anywhere. Content creation is a fairly new avenue and is constantly changing. Trends, technology and platforms move moment to moment and things change fast. The struggle comes with trying to keep up with the machine AND your creativity. Most people who create content don’t have teams helping, they are average people doing all of the jobs themselves and learning how to do them at the same time,

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I don’t like to categorize myself because I’m multifaceted, but I am a writer, producer and content creator. I create daily content about news, politics and current world events. I take complex subjects and stories, add a little spice and break down the biggest stories of the day in under a minute.
I’m most proud of the short film I co:wrote, co:produced and started in that has been entered and nominated in the film festival circuit this year and had its world premier at The TCL Chinese Theater at ScreamFest in October.

Any big plans?
I’m working on several news projects at the moment! Writing had been a passion of mine since I was young and I’m finally working on my first book.
