Today we’d like to introduce you to Hidden Lives
Hi Hidden, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
Hidden Lives tells the sinister tale of an aspiring singer-songwriter named Hannah who unintentionally crosses paths with a strange but seemingly kind girl named Samantha, who offers her a room to stay in during her troubled times as a struggling artist. However, what seems to be a kind gesture from a stranger turns out to be something much more dangerous and twisted than expected. The story began 6 years ago as a short script written by Abraham Lopez, a director, writer, producer, cinematographer, and talent manager native to the San Fernando Valley. At the time, the script was called “Lives” and was intended for YouTube, but what started as just a fun YouTube video later on became something much bigger! In 2022, Abraham decided to expand his original script into a longer proof of concept, hoping to turn it into a feature film eventually under his production company, A Greek God Entertainment. The proof of concept was shot in just one day and wowed judges and audiences in film festivals worldwide, receiving a cumulative 200+ awards. With such a positive response to the proof of concept, it was a no-brainer that Hidden Lives had to be turned into a feature film. Production for the Hidden Lives feature film promptly began at the beginning of 2024 and was shot in just 10 days, an unheard-of amount of time for a nearly 2-hour feature film, but for Abraham and his team, who are well known in the indie realms for their quick turn around times, this was nothing new. The film stars Deborah Shirley as Samantha and Natalie Moore as Hannah. Both actresses also starred in the Hidden Lives proof of concept and were well recognized for their convincing performances in the film. Hidden Lives is currently in the final stages of post-production and is anticipated to be released in early 2025.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
As with any production, we definitely ran into some bumps in the road along the way. We followed a tight schedule in order to complete production in the desired time frame, which could be a bit hectic at times. Aside from that, one of the most unique struggles we ran into was trying to find a live bunny rabbit. In the film, Samantha’s pet bunny serves as a very important element to the story, so we contacted many people trying to find the perfect bunny while also trying to stay within budget. Due to the nature of some of the scenes, our art department also had to create a fake bunny that matched the live bunny close enough to be believable. The whole process of searching for a live bunny and making sure the fake bunny matched perfectly and was ready in time was a challenge in itself, as we were working on such a tight schedule, but it makes for a fun story to tell.
As you know, we’re big fans of Hidden Lives. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
Hidden Lives is an upcoming feature film in the psychological thriller genre. It is unique to other films in this genre because it incorporates a lot of horror elements as well as crime elements. It is a seamless blend of thriller, horror, and crime all bundled up into one jaw-dropping, gut-wrenching experience. The film is based on the award-winning proof of concept written and directed by Abraham Lopez and is expected to release next year!
How do you think about happiness?
I asked a few people from the Hidden Lives cast and crew what makes them happy and this is what they said:
Abraham Lopez (Writer/Director/Executive Producer):
Creating new content and telling more stories that inspire and bring people together
Greg James (Key Grip):
Being in an atmosphere of servitude to the Lord, fishing, and just being around good people that have good hearts
Natalie Moore (Actress/Editor):
Sunshine, music, acting, making art, and spending time with God
Deborah Shirley (Actress/Bunny Handler):
The things that make me the most happy are spending time with my family, friends, and puppy, and anytime I get to act
Rob Shiells (Co-Producer):
Working and doing anything with people that I love and care about – it makes every day like being with family
Talisa Malhas (Casting Director/Makeup Artist):
What makes me happy is being around authentic, resilient people. There’s something deeply inspiring and energizing about connecting with individuals who stay true to themselves and persevere no matter what life throws at them.
