Today we’d like to introduce you to Omar Martinez
Hi Omar, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I started on this career(without know that is was a career) because my wife started on this and at one point she got a call requesting 2 clowns for a birthday party. I was like I’ll help you and during the next couple of days I went to a clown store and I got myself a whole clown outfit including couple of tools or items needed for the show. Also, during those days after the call I worked on doing my makeup which is not easy and now I look back at those pictures and I looked myself as a scary clown. Then I attended to a Latin clown convention and I fall in love with this career but definitely there is so much work to do to get to where you want to be at.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It hasn’t been a smooth road but definitely no career or job is easy. In order to accomplish the goals in this career I need to practice at least 1-2 hours per day all the thing you learn in the classes or courses you take. This includes acting, makeup, juggling, magic, balloon twist, etc. I had to used my savings from my regular job to buy myself all of this classes/courses and items to persuade one of my goals. Plus balance the time between family, work and my goal to be a clown.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I’m a clown who works hard to make sure I put a smile on any humans face or children of all ages. I’m bilingual (English and Español) but im mainly focused on kids birthday parties, although I can perform on streets as well as for big crowds. My work or performance covers a few different things and I feel like that is the reason I have been know for; such as been able to speak 2 languages, miming, juggling and being able to show a lot of visual stuff during the show. Which is a skill that I have learned and developed throughout the years and didn’t know I was capable enough to do. Something that makes me super proud is that I have proven myself that I can accomplish a lot of things if I work hard enough to get them… dreams don’t come true by dreaming; dreams come true by working hard to make them come true.
