Today we’d like to introduce you to Kodjovi Olympio
Hi Kodjovi, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I started playing around with drawings and using construction materials like ciments left over from my fathers business to make sculptures as far as I could remember, 5 years old is the most memorable age for my beginning.
As I became a teenager I started to meet other artists and doing shows around town then got discovered by some French people one day on the street coming back home from a fellow artist’s holding a large painting.
After doing few shows in France I decided to come explore the US, I fist landed in Minnesota in 2003, after 10 years I decided moving to a bigger City for better opportunities. A friend of mine mentioned California in a conversation one day and I felt the connection so I moved here and been searching for myself ever since.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
As a sef-taught, figuring out the business side of things and developing your work at the same time with no family or anyone to back you once in a while when you fall, it had been Rocky but that’s also the beauty of it.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I think I’m known for my boldness and use of colors.
I’m proud staying true to my work. I do nothing that I don’t feel.
Alright so before we go can you talk to us a bit about how people can work with you, collaborate with you or support you?
People can support by buying a painting, and collaboration ideas are welcome.
