Today we’d like to introduce you to Paige Carter
Paige, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
Born and raised in Philadelphia, my journey into the world of makeup started early. As a little girl, I would sneak into my mother’s makeup drawer, experimenting with lip liner, lipstick, and mascara. Despite looking like a clown, my passion for makeup only grew. I attended Empire Beauty School, where I initially trained as a hairstylist but soon discovered my true calling in makeup. I immersed myself in the craft, participating in fashion shows and offering free makeup services to gain experience and recognition.
Thanks to my hard work and consistency, I began working with celebrities such as Jazmine Sullivan, Shante Moore, Patti Labelle, and Lil Uzi and many others. The adrenaline and excitement of the hustle became addictive. My stint as a permanent makeup artist at MAC Cosmetics taught me to thrive in a fast-paced environment, solidifying my desire to pursue a career as a professional makeup artist. My diverse clientele, ranging from businesswomen to celebrities, showed me that my passion for helping others feel great about themselves was my true calling.
A long-held dream of mine was to relocate to Los Angeles. Each visit made me feel that L.A. could be my future home, and I knew the time had come to make the move. I brought my partner to L.A., and he was equally excited about the prospect of living in California. After a difficult breakup, I realized it was the perfect moment to pursue my dream. I arrived in L.A. with a strong portfolio and a booking for the Grammys in my first month. I felt confident that success was just around the corner.
However, I soon learned that L.A. is a tough city that demands hard work. Moving here alone with just my brushes, my dog, and my dream, I found that success did not come as easily as I had hoped. Despite the challenges, I cherish my life in L.A. every day. I’m living my dream, and I will always value this moment in my life as a testament to perseverance and passion. I’ve met some amazing people here and I plan on staying for a while. While I yell from the top of the mountain Be you, Be beautiful, be Facedbysurperb.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
The transition to L.A. has been about 50% smooth and 50% a work in progress. One major challenge has been feeling alone; I’ve never been so far from friends and family before. I’m used to having a support network close by, and I know it’s just a matter of building my new tribe in L.A.
Another struggle has been the significant cost of starting over in such an expensive city. The financial strain has been tough, but I’m hopeful that as I establish myself in L.A. the way I did in Philly, this will become less of a problem. Like pleaseeese L.A. be kind to my pockets lol
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
As a professional makeup artist and interior designer, I run two businesses: FacedbySuperb LLC and SuperbLifestyle. By day, I paint faces, and by night, I design homes. My commitment to exceptional customer service and a clean aesthetic sets me apart in both fields.
I’m incredibly proud of how far I’ve come. I didn’t come from a wealthy background; I was given a gift and ran with it, creating the life I have now through sheer hard work. Nothing was handed to me, and I took no shortcuts. I gave my all to build this success, and I’m ready to continue pushing forward. I gave my all and I will do it again.
Any big plans?
My focus is on expanding my clientele in L.A. and growing my SuperbLifestyle business. I’m excited to be reintroducing my candles, as I know L.A. values vibes and ambiance, and I’m eager to contribute to that scene. I have arrived! I envision both of my businesses thriving and am enthusiastic about what the future holds.
I would love to see both of my businesses flourishing. I like that for me.
