Hidden Gems: Meet Selvin Lopez of Selvin Estates powered by WGRES INC

Today we’d like to introduce you to Selvin Lopez

Hi Selvin, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I am born and raised in Pacoima, CA and am the youngest of 7 siblings. I was a little bit all over the San Fernando valley. Graduating from Granada hills elementary, Maclay middle school and starting high school at Kennedy high to only to transfer and complete high school at Palmdale High. I found my way back in Glendale living with my aunt and cousins to begin my college journey at FIDM as soon as I graduated. Shoutout to my aunt Alba Marisol Monge for allowing a 17 year old with no money, stay at her home for free and allow me a chance to my education. Shoutout to my amazing mom and dad, Amalia Lopez and Guadalupe Hernandez for doing their best to help me push through and find a way. My dad would pick me up and take me back to Palmdale just to see my mom and siblings.

Fast forward, I developed and sharpened my marketing/branding skills. I found myself working at Fashion Nova after FIDM, where I met Josie Huesca, who was a customer and became a great friend that saw my potential. She connected me with her sister, Gleynda Huesca, who scheduled my appointment at the mortgage office where they needed a marketing director. I got hired on the spot and the rest is history. I developed a passion and love for Real Estate, beginning my journey in the real estate industry in the mortgage side of the spectrum. As the marketing director for a mortgage brokerage in Sherman Oaks, I acquired a love for helping families on both the real estate and mortgage side. I learned about many loan programs throughout my years working and creating the marketing material for the loan officer, his team and the real estate agents they worked with – which allowed me to see the full scope of what clients experience dealing with their Real Estate Agent and Loan Officer. This helped shape my vision of the Realtor I am committed to be and the team behind me.

I found my new (working) home with Walter Lopez at WGRES INC., to better serve my clients backed with both his and my experience and most importantly the love to genuinely help. The heart of my business is the best interest of my clients. I am dedicated to help you successfully make your real estate goals a reality. The most important thing for me is that whether you are a first-time buyer, selling your second home, or a seasoned investor, that you feel completely safe, happy and at peace as we make our way through the journey of your purchase/sale. Your peace of mind is my peace of mind, and I am here to help you as best as I can, whole heartedly.

I am a trans Latina, not defined by that label, but wanting to break through doors and barriers that may seem as obstacles. I end with this as I want my journey and accomplishments to speak for themselves and not by who I am or how I identify.

Fun facts: I am born and raised in the San Fernando Valley, FIDM Alumni (The Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandise), and I was a track star in middle school!

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Well I graduated at 17, and I was not able to get a job until 18. Basically I was broke as a joke lol. That same year I graduated, my best friend died at 17. I started college in July, and my birthday is in November so I had no way to make any money until I was of age to get a job. I was broke and broken over the loss of my best friend Adriana McCloud.

I woke up at 5am to catch the bus in Glendale to DTLA and would run from my last class to make it to the bus so I could get home before the sun went down. I did it though.

My 2 older brothers passed away as I was growing in my career, which was life changing. I feel like I was born again. I always say when my second brother passed away, it’s as if he gave me a gift through his death… and helped me find my way back to myself.

I dealt with fears of being judged for being who I am, and that was something I had to find inside of myself to overcome, fears and all. I still find myself at times hoping I don’t get judged, but I also have let go so much of that because I truly love who I am and I am a good person who means no harm.

I just want to love and help!

As you know, we’re big fans of Selvin Estates powered by WGRES INC . For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
We are a real estate brokerage with a deep love and passion for real estate, mortgage and helping people fulfill their real estate goals.

I specialize in both Residential and Commercial as my first deals were for my brother and sister. My brother with the purchase of his first home and my sister with the purchase of the building for her business, Nana’s Auto Repair in Palmdale.

I genuinely want to help people feel at ease with a process that is a major moment in their lives. I am proud of the humility, the confidence and the commitment of my brand and the people I work with in helping serve you. I truly mean it when I say I’m grateful for every opportunity and every person that chooses to work with me. It means so much to me. Selvin Estates will be with you every step of the way in the purchase or sale of your home and I mean it when I say that I know what this moment means for you, so it means a lot to me!

Can you talk to us a bit about the role of luck?
I truly believe that God is the guiding force in my life and I’m thankful for that.
