Today we’d like to introduce you to Embergeists
Hi Embergeists, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
In a family Italian restaurant, we began our unlikely journey toward friendship and music. Aldo (myself) and Ryan, both new hires, were just two servers among many, but our lives would soon intertwine in ways neither of us could have anticipated.
Ryan was a quick-witted, outgoing guy with a knack for handling difficult customers. Myself, on the other hand, (Aldo) was quieter, more reserved, and often lost in thought. Despite our different personalities, we both found ourselves facing the same daily grind—long shifts, demanding customers, and the occasional broken plate.
Our paths first crossed during a particularly hectic Friday night. I was juggling multiple trays and dodging between tables, and I accidentally spilled a glass of wine on Ryan’s apron. We exchanged sharp words and a heated glare, our first interaction anything but friendly.
However, as weeks passed, the initial tension faded. We discovered that beneath our surface differences lay a shared passion for music. Ryan had been a producer in high school, I played guitar & piano in my spare time. We began discussing our musical interests during our breaks, finding common ground in our love for gothic/alt rock and indie bands.
One day, after getting fired together for stealing breadsticks, I suggested we jam together. Ryan was hesitant at first, worried that our differences might clash. But my enthusiasm was contagious, and soon we found ourselves in Ryan’s small apartment, instruments in hand.
Our first session was a mix of excitement and awkwardness, but as we played more, our connection deepened. Ryan’s knack for producing and my guitar complemented each other perfectly, creating a synergy neither had anticipated. Our music sessions became a weekly ritual, a sanctuary from our average lives.
We started writing our own songs, drawing inspiration from our restaurant experiences and the stories of our lives. Our music was raw and honest, capturing the highs and lows of our journey from restaurant servers to aspiring musicians.
As our bond grew stronger, so did our ambition. This is how Embergeists was born, entities of unfinished business.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It has definitely not been a smooth road. From figuring out what genre we want to play to figuring out how to perform with just a 2 man band has been a difficult. Struggling to keep jobs and not having a career has left us feeling alone while all our of friends and family pass us by. We know music is our passion and we will continue to grow and better our skills as time goes on.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
Embergeists is an Alternative duo. We do not put ourselves in a box and like to creative whatever we are feeling, ranging from EDM all the way to Gothic Rock. We are most proud of our willingness to go outside the box and try new things. We strive for our music to resonate with everyone and anyone. I think sometimes that sets us apart from others is how quickly we have progressed over the months in terms of sound, songwriting, and social media.
What sort of changes are you expecting over the next 5-10 years?
In 5-10 years we would love to be playing/ collaborating with some of our favorite bands and artists such as Blink-182, Johnny Marr, The Marias, Mareux, and Blood Orange. As well as maturing our sound and our minds and continuing to feed our creativity.
