Hi Hector, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
Becoming a father at sixteen was a life-changing experience. It wasn’t easy, but it gave me a sense of purpose and determination that has driven me ever since. My journey from a dishwasher to an IT manager and part-time YouTuber is a testament to hard work, sacrifice, and relentless pursuit of a better life for my family.
At sixteen, balancing the responsibilities of fatherhood with the demands of school and work was incredibly challenging. My first job was as a dishwasher, a role that provided me with my initial income to support my family. Despite the humble beginnings, this job taught me the value of hard work and persistence.
The real challenge came when I started working as a Machining Operator, a job that demanded twelve-hour shifts, seven days a week. My days were a blur of activity: long hours at work, attending school full-time, and finding precious moments to spend with my family.
The grueling schedule took a toll on me, but I was motivated by the desire to provide my family with a life I never had. I knew that sacrificing family time in the short term was necessary to secure a better future for us all.
As the sole provider, I had to continually push myself to find opportunities for advancement. While working long hours, I also pursued education in the field of information technology. The combination of hands-on experience and academic knowledge opened doors to better job prospects. My transition from a Machining Operator to a role in IT was a significant milestone, marking the beginning of a new chapter in my career.
Climbing the ladder in the IT industry was no easy feat. It required continuous learning, adapting to new technologies, and proving myself in various roles. Through dedication and perseverance, I eventually became an IT manager. This position not only provided a stable and improved income but also allowed me to use my skills to solve complex problems and lead a team.
In addition to my IT career, I ventured into the world of YouTube as a part-time content creator. This endeavor allowed me to share my knowledge and experiences with a broader audience, further diversifying my skills and income sources.
Reflecting on my journey, I am proud of the progress I’ve made. The sacrifices and hard work have paid off, allowing me to provide my family with opportunities and a quality of life that I once only dreamed of. The long hours, the missed family moments, and the relentless pursuit of improvement have all been worth it.
My story is one of resilience, determination, and the unwavering belief that with hard work and sacrifice, a better life is possible. It serves as a reminder that no matter the starting point, success is attainable through perseverance and dedication.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
The journey has been far from smooth. I’ve faced significant challenges, including financial issues and relationship problems that led to single fatherhood and bouts of depression. One of the most stressful times in my life was at 17, when I had to balance high school, work, and supporting my family. Another particularly difficult period was adjusting to single fatherhood, during which I nearly lost my house and hit rock bottom.

During these trying times, I had to make tough choices between family, friends, and career, learning how to balance everything. It was during this period of deep struggle that I found God. This turning point brought a profound change in my life, paving the way for my personal and professional growth. With faith as my foundation, I navigated through these challenges and became the man I am today.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I’ve been in the Information Technology field for the past 13 years and am currently serving as the IT Manager for my company. Throughout my career, IT has been both my goal and passion, driving me to continuously improve and excel in this field.

Recently, I felt the need for a new challenge, something that would push me out of my comfort zone. This led to the birth of my YouTube channel, where I use my expertise in IT to inform everyday people about today’s technology. My channel focuses on breaking down complex IT concepts into easy-to-understand content, helping viewers stay updated with the latest tech trends and advancements.

Balancing my IT career with my YouTube activities has been a rewarding experience. It allows me to engage with a broader audience and share my knowledge in a new and exciting way. Moving forward, I am focused on growing my YouTube channel, creating more valuable content, and continuing to challenge myself both professionally and personally. My goal is to bridge the gap between technology and the everyday person, making tech accessible and comprehensible for everyone.

Risk taking is a topic that people have widely differing views on – we’d love to hear your thoughts.
I consider myself a risk taker. Throughout my life, taking risks has played a crucial role in my personal and professional development. From becoming a father at sixteen to working demanding jobs while pursuing education and balancing family responsibilities, I’ve faced numerous challenges head-on.

In my view, everyone should take risks. There’s nothing wrong with taking risks as long as you understand the pros and cons that come along with them and are prepared to handle the potential downsides. Risk-taking has allowed me to transition from being a dishwasher to a Machining Operator, and eventually, to an IT Manager. It also inspired me to start my YouTube channel, pushing me out of my comfort zone and enabling me to share my IT expertise with a broader audience.

By weighing the potential outcomes and being okay with the cons, you can make informed decisions that lead to growth and new opportunities. Embracing risk has been essential for my progress and success, and I believe it can be for others as well. I aspire to inspire all people, especially minorities, by showing that success is not determined by the color of your skin but by the hard work, dedication, and determination you invest in your goals and dreams.
