Livia Peixoto

Hi Livia, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start, maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers.
My story began in Niterói, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, where my deep-rooted love for music and Brazilian culture set the stage for my career within the music industry.

It was at Som Livre, a major Brazilian Record Label, where I found success managing emerging talents and collaborating with industry giants, fostering a passion for artist development, promotion, and shows and festivals production. My time there allowed me to work closely with top Brazilian artists, many of whom have been nominated or won Latin Grammy Awards. Over the years, I’ve also produced numerous festivals and secured artists’ participation in major TV shows with millions of viewers.

Transitioning to Los Angeles, I further honed my skills at XYION Inc., where I led talent management initiatives and achieved Billboard-topping success with artists like October London.

My entrepreneurial spirit also led me to work independently, producing shows and managing tours for Brazilian artists like Rogê and Flor, daughter of Seu Jorge. My role extended to strategizing the internationalization of Brazilian artists’ careers in North America, coordinating all aspects of their ventures, from releases to performances, and working closely with Brazilian Music Producers, including a Latin Grammy-nominated producer. I have also produced a series of successful shows and moderated a panel on the Influence of Brazilian and International Country Music at SXSW 2024 in Austin, TX.

Through it all, I’ve remained dedicated to pushing boundaries and making a meaningful impact in the music industry, now starting a new role at WME Music. My journey has taken me from the vibrant streets of Rio to the bustling music scene of Hollywood, shaping me into the professional I am today. And as I continue to evolve and grow, I’m excited to see where the future takes me.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back, would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
In general, my journey has been characterized by a blend of smooth progress driven by passion and dedication, along with some challenges. One pivotal moment was the decision to move to Los Angeles, leaving behind a beloved job in Brazil to pursue opportunities in the US music industry. This transition tested my resilience as I navigated a new culture and professional landscape with limited connections. However, I embraced the challenge, eager to expand my expertise and contribute to the global music scene. Despite the initial hurdles, this bold decision proved immensely rewarding, fueling my personal and professional growth and reaffirming the importance of perseverance in the face of adversity.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
In my career, I’ve cultivated a diverse skill set and a deep passion for the music industry. With a solid educational background in Music Business from UCLA Extension and expertise in Marketing, Advertising, Public Relations, Communication, and Business Skills from Bournemouth Business School in England, I continuously strive to stay at the forefront of the industry. Additionally, I hold certifications in Event and Festival Management, further enhancing my capabilities in managing live performances and tours.

As a tour manager, I oversee all facets of live performances, including managing budgets, coordinating logistics, and ensuring seamless execution of each show, all while nurturing strong relationships with artists and partners. In addition to tour management, I collaborate directly with artists to advance their careers, strategizing marketing initiatives, enhancing branding, and crafting release strategies, among other responsibilities.

Recently, I’ve transitioned to a new role within the music industry, joining a talent agency’s music department with a primary focus on bookings. This shift marks a natural evolution in my career trajectory, allowing me to capitalize on my extensive background in tour management and artist development to excel in this new domain.

I approach each project with genuine love for the craft and a profound respect for the artists’ journeys. I recognize the transformative power of music in people’s lives and strive to cultivate authentic connections with artists, partners, and audiences alike. Whether it’s witnessing an artist’s breakthrough moment on stage or celebrating their achievements on streaming platforms, I find immense fulfillment in contributing to their success. My commitment to hard work, empathy, and integrity guides my approach to every endeavor, ensuring that each collaboration is driven by passion, compassion, and a shared vision for artistic excellence.

What were you like growing up?
Growing up, I was a ball of energy, always ready for new adventures and fun. I had a lively personality and loved spending time outdoors, whether it was playing with friends in the neighborhood or catching waves with my dad on the weekends. I was a very social child, thriving in the hustle and bustle of birthday parties and family get-togethers.

Even though hitting the books wasn’t my favorite pastime, I threw myself into school life, often finding myself elected as the class rep. I enjoyed the buzz of school and the friendships I made with my classmates. Beyond the classroom, my schedule was packed with all sorts of activities, from tennis and gymnastics to street dance and hip-hop classes. Music was a big part of our household too, with our home constantly filled with the sound of laughter, dancing, and live music during backyard barbecues and parties.

Looking back, those early experiences shaped my love for adventure, social connection, and living life to the fullest. They laid the groundwork for the journey of self-discovery and fun that I continue to embrace today.
