Hidden Gems: Meet Oscar Mendo of Family Carpet & Upholstery Cleaning

Today we’d like to introduce you to Oscar Mendo.

Oscar Mendo

Hi Oscar, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
After high school, I landed a job at this major carpet cleaning company and had a blast chatting it up with customers, checking out new locations, and just feeling useful by helping folks out. Then, in 2009, my daughter came into the world, and I made it my mission to work for myself. I knew being self-employed would give me the flexibility to be there for her whenever she needed me. Fast forward to 2012, and I finally made that dream a reality by opening Family Carpet & Upholstery Cleaning LLC.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back, would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Running a small business has its hurdles, especially when you’re always on call in case of carpet or upholstery emergencies. Last summer, during a tropical storm in Southern California, a worried customer contacted me about a leaky roof ruining their bedroom carpet. While these situations don’t come up often, I’ve gotten used to calming nervous clients and assuring them everything will be okay. Over time, I’ve become pretty good at talking to people and making them feel confident in my work. By keeping communication open and explaining my process, I’ve built a solid base of loyal customers, some of whom have stuck around for almost eight years now.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
At Family Carpet and Upholstery Cleaning LLC, we’ve got you covered for all your cleaning needs, whether it’s carpets, upholstery, tile & grout, and more. Serving both homes and businesses across most of the San Gabriel Valley, what makes us stand out is our dedication to quality, not just getting the job done quickly. We want you to be completely happy with our work because earning your trust matters to us, especially since we’re working in your home or business.

What do you think about happiness?
What really puts a smile on my face is hanging out with my family, catching up with my friends, playing video games, and tinkering with my hobbies: car and drone. Nothing beats coming home to my loyal dog Snoopy and chill cat Gary after a long day. And watching my daughter crush it at her softball games and school events? That’s the good stuff. Life is sweet when I’m surrounded by all the things that make me happy.
