Today we’d like to introduce you to Oscar Neidhardt.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
Music has been my lifeblood since childhood, ever since I was exposed to its magic in my father’s recording studio in Paris. Those early experiences planted the seeds of passion, igniting a spark that would guide my journey. At 12, a new chapter unfolded as I moved to Munich, Germany, immersing myself in a different culture that further enriched my musical perspective and creative spirit.
By 18, the rockstar dream fueled my move to the UK with my band, River Becomes Ocean. While the energy of playing bass and making music with them was exhilarating, my true calling lay in the realms of songwriting and production. I traded the stage for the studio, diving headfirst into London’s vibrant scene, honing my craft, and learning from talented musicians along the way.
Life is dynamic, full of unexpected twists and turns. In 2018, I took a leap of faith and landed in Los Angeles, drawn by fresh energy and personal challenges. Starting from scratch wasn’t easy, but persistence has always been my guiding principle. Collaborating with incredible artists like Thirty Seconds to Mars, Kacey Musgraves, Adam Lambert, EMELINE, Laye, William Black, ILLENIUM, lovelytheband, Fast Boy, Nathan Evans, O.T.W.N., Joshua Speers, Conan Gray, and many others has been a highlight of my career so far. This includes executive producing Thirty Seconds to Mars’ latest album, “It’s The End Of The World, But It’s A Beautiful Day,” and also producing 6 songs off the album, including the number 1 Single “Stuck.”
But the journey didn’t stop there. With a desire to create a space for artistic expression and collaboration, I launched Jealous Heart Music in Los Angeles. This full-spectrum production company goes beyond just songwriting and production; we also offer vocal recording, vocal production, editing, mixing, and even consulting for aspiring musicians. My vision is to create a haven where artists can explore their unique sounds, capture their essence, and bring their sonic visions to life.
Los Angeles is now my home base, but music transcends borders. I remain a passionate collaborator and entrepreneur fueled by the mission to help artists find their voice, capture their essence, and create songs that inspire. My studio is a welcoming space where creativity flows freely, and I’m thrilled to be a part of the global music community.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Smooth road? Not even close! But that’s the beauty of this journey, isn’t it? Sure, there’s been personal stuff, the usual ups and downs of life. But on a professional level, the challenges have been numerous.
From a financial standpoint, starting from scratch in new cities like London and LA was brutal. Building a reputation, finding the right clients, and making ends meet while staying true to my sound – it wasn’t easy. Finding my own musical voice was another hurdle, and it still is! It’s an ongoing quest, but one I relish.
But here’s the thing: I embrace the challenges. They’ve shaped me, taught me resilience, and pushed me to grow both personally and musically. It’s not about having a smooth, obstacle-free path; it’s about learning from the bumps and detours.
Every struggle, every “no,” every closed door has become a lesson. I turn them into stepping stones, fueling my determination to find my unique place in the music world. It’s about celebrating the wins and learning from the losses because they’re all part of the story.
And let’s face it, life isn’t a Disney movie. It’s a rollercoaster, and this musical journey is mine. It’s messy, unpredictable, and full of challenges, but I wouldn’t trade it for the world. The struggles have made me who I am, and I’m grateful for every twist and turn.
But the biggest challenge, without a doubt, has been finding my own voice. How can I contribute something unique to the music world? That’s a question I constantly grapple with, pushing me to experiment, explore, and evolve. It’s a challenge I accept with open arms, and honestly, I love it!
And speaking of challenges, I’m not stopping here. There will be more, for sure. But hey, I’m still making music, right? And that’s all that matters.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?

In terms of your work and the industry, what are some of the changes you are expecting to see over the next five to ten years?
Predicting the future of music in just 5-10 years is like trying to catch a speeding bullet train blindfolded. The industry is fueled by innovation, driven by ever-evolving technology, and fueled by the ever-expanding creative potential of artists. But hey, that’s what makes it exciting!
Here’s what I see on the horizon:
The AI Revolution: It’s no secret that artificial intelligence is changing the game. From lyric generation to beat creation, AI tools are putting music production power into everyone’s hands. But don’t hit the panic button just yet! While AI might handle the technical grunt work, the human touch of talent, originality, and a distinct musical voice will remain the true differentiators. It’s all about using these tools to enhance your creativity, not replace it.
Democratization of Music: With everyone having access to creation tools, the competition is fierce. But this also means a wider range of diverse voices and unique sounds emerging. The challenge lies in standing out in a saturated market. Remember, a powerful song, regardless of genre or trend, will always resonate with listeners. Focus on honing your craft, developing your unique sound, and connecting with your audience on an emotional level.
Shifting Landscapes: Trends are notoriously fickle, and predicting them is a fool’s errand. But one thing remains constant: great music transcends trends. So, instead of chasing fads, focus on creating music that speaks to your heart and resonates with your listeners. Embrace change, experiment, and keep pushing creative boundaries.
The Future is Collaborative: With technology blurring geographical borders, collaboration is easier than ever. Imagine working with musicians from across the globe, each bringing their unique talents to the table. This opens up exciting possibilities for cross-cultural fusion and genre-bending soundscapes. Let’s leverage these connections to create music that unites us all.
Remember, the music industry is a living, breathing organism. It’s constantly evolving, adapting, and surprising us. Embrace the changes, stay true to your artistic vision, and keep creating music that moves you and your audience.
