Meet Reynaldo Pacheco of Hollywood Academy of Performing Arts

Today we’d like to introduce you to Reynaldo Pacheco.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Reynaldo. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
When I did the movie “Beginners” with Ewan McGregor and Christopher Plummer, every time I used to go back to Bolivia people would ask me to teach workshops and I realized that there was a need for school. And, then we started a conversation with the University of USC and that’s how in combination with La Salle University in Bolivia we created the Hollywood Academy of Performing Arts (H.A.P.A.). We started in one city and then we expanded to four cities in South America, then we were in Puerto Rico and Miami, and now we have a base in Los Angeles connecting all the cities with Online Programs for Script Writing, Acting and Accent Reduction.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
I would say, more than obstacles it’s been challenge and challenge was to listen to the entities of you really have to pay attention at what works and what doesn’t work and also how every city is a different person, what was working in La Paz wasn’t working in Santa Cruz and Cochabamba and in Los Angeles we have a completely different program. So, every city has its own needs and that need to be heard by us.

We’d love to hear more about your business.
I am the CEO, the creator of the Hollywood Academy of Performing Arts and now I am heading the artistic program in Hollywood. In the school in Hollywood, we are working on a play and we are about to be part of the UCLA extension as well.

What were you like growing up?
It was comfortable and warm to be with my parents, to be with my family, it was very beautiful and being grown up at home by using my toys as settings to tell stories.
