Conversations with Jacob Arbittier

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jacob Arbittier.

Jacob Arbittier

Jacob, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
When I was a kid, I roped my neighborhood together to film horror shorts at the graveyard at the end of the street. Since then, we’ve shot over 120 horror shorts with our company Burnt Mill Road and amassed 4 million plus views. We’re finally pivoting into the horror feature space.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Not a smooth road- I’ve learned as a filmmaker today you’ve got to be an entrepreneur. Everything is up to you- the cavalry is not coming. You’ve got to create your own opportunities.

Thanks – so, what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
Known for horror films- proud of our short THE FISHERMAN that’s reached 1.8M views online. Very proud of my feature script, MRS. LADADEE, we’re working to get set up now. What sets me and Burnt Mill Road (production company) apart is the innovative genre concepts we execute on. We don’t wait for opportunities; we make them happen. We aim to be the most commercially successful, innovative horror production company in the world.

So maybe we end on discussing what matters most to you and why?
The spectacle of horror shots- setting up a terrifying moment is extremely difficult, and it’s so satisfying to get an audience reaction.
