Daily Inspiration: Meet Ron Cobert

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ron Cobert.

Ron Cobert

Hi Ron, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
It all started long ago in a classic suburbia town in Vienna, Virginia where my friends and I decided to find and capture the Bunnyman. We came close, but not without the PTSD from the event that would haunt my thoughts, so much so my father ordered me to write a journal, and so my interest in writing stories and capturing the journey of the characters began. Fast forward to Arizona State, my first entertainment job was on Raising Arizona. I was hooked, beyond inspired, hanging with Joel and Ethan Coen, Nicolas Cage, Holly Hunter, John Goodman, and Frances McDormand. They were making money as artists and entrepreneurs, which was very enticing—my destiny.

I focused on the creative space toward advertising and entertainment. I belonged. It made sense. Being in my 20s and pretty, I started working as an actor and model, but being in front of the camera was not my only interest. It took me worldwide, and I worked with some of the top creators of all time. I was super curious about the world behind the camera, so I started building a photography portfolio and video reel. Writing, photography, motion, cinematography, and editing gave me a new passion and something to offer.

Sustaining my art became an intricate importance to make a good living, being that entrepreneur. Operating an advertising and entertainment business requires business administration, accounting, investment, partnerships, working well with others, leadership, creativity, and ordinary business decency to be on time and on budget. It became a business, and I employed and collected what was due. I was thrown into a race, a fast train working with multiple cultures. Our operation was contracted to take a crew anywhere to get “that” shot. And we still go to many challenging places all for the shot.

These days, Sunscope Entertainment Corporation is the entertainment rock, creating, producing, and licensing film and television, and Ohyeahlive is the advertising division marketing it all using our creative and tech strength. Lovelane Music Group is the music side, creating and licensing. We work with various brands from different industries, investors, broadcasters, agents, etc. It’s a bright future with tech strength, our crews, and new and known talent.

With 100s of acclaimed commercials and a collection of film and television projects, my teams and I are continuing to expand production and our catalog of work, creating commercials, music videos, narrative features, and episodic television. Soon, we are finishing two new features titled “Evil Lurking,” a psychological thriller, and “Mobster’s Candy,” a quirky crime drama. Both are leaning toward a strong female protagonist and way of fighting back. I am attracted to strong female characters. I have a lot of women allies.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
No, it has not been constantly smooth. Sometimes, of course. It is a struggle. Hell yeah. It is challenging. But isn’t everything? Running a business in two highly competitive industries, advertising and entertainment, runs smoothly, and then it gets tough, and vice versa, but I love it. It always requires perseverance—so many obstacles to finding and retaining impression-rich talent, budget limitations, and tight deadlines, but you persevere with the tenacity to deliver. With all that said, you need time to better yourself. Have someone, a partner, the family side to life’s quest, separate from the company. That’s the secret to it all? You can’t do anything on your own. Make time with your family –every week. Don’t ever be so engulfed that you can’t have a workout and spend time with your family. Lessons learned, balancing perseverance with adaptability, creativity with business acumen, and passion with patience helps turn struggles into strengths.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
People say I am funny 🙂 They say I am excellent at crafting stories and creating compelling visuals. I pride myself on research and knowledge of how all the details work. Dynamic storytelling comes easy because I have lived stories with diverse characters, living and working with many cultures. It’s better than any fiction. Whether comedy, drama, or thriller, I have a knack for narratives and performances that resonate. I draw out authenticity. Being able to capture using cinematography and then editing, and now add the coding and my fluidity of being fluent with many applications. The online experience is everything. You have a gold rush.

We all have a different way of looking at and defining success. How do you define success?
I would define success as striving for and delivering excellence that increases value. I am a business development executive who can increase the value of anything. So, legacy is important. Having the ability to help others and myself build a legacy for our families is hugely meaningful, contributes to society, and inspires others to strive to influence the next generation to stay on a path of success, one day to the next. What did you do to advance today? If you did work toward growing, that’s a success.
