Meet Ashley Tioni of That Industry Girl

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ashley Tioni.

Ashley Tioni

Hi Ashley, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
That Industry Girl began as my digital diary, documenting my life as a working girl in LA. I stepped out of the coziness of my home one Sunday night for Amber Grimes’ birthday bash, sparking the idea for my first blog post, ‘BackOutsideGirlz.’

I shared my experiences, encouraging industry girls to step outside of their comfort zones and embrace the city hustle. Since that post on January 24th, I’ve been sharing weekly snippets, celebrating the highs and lows of living in LA as a transplant, working in the music industry, and adulting as a black girl. The positive feedback led to real-life hangouts, and our community has been growing ever since. The girls are really back outside!

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Staying consistent with That Industry Girl hasn’t always been easy. I don’t always know what to say and how much to share. When I struggle, I aim to find the beauty in the chaos, the lesson in my losses, or the value in my vulnerability to share with my community.

When I faced burnout after a hectic week of travel, I was honest about my setbacks. Instead of hiding my failures, I wrote about it and created Unwined – A Remedy to Burnout Event. It became a haven of relaxation, where guests indulged in self-care and bonded over wine, comfort food, and massages. The event was intimate, warm, and peaceful. The energy was magnetic, as every guest was quickly embraced. Conversations were instant, vibes were immaculate, and although some of the ladies were strangers to the group, everyone left knowing someone new. It was magical. And it would’ve never happened if I wasn’t transparent about my setbacks.

We’ve been impressed with That Industry Girl, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
That Industry Girl is on a mission to create a spaceless third place for working women in LA. Making friends as an adult is hard, living in a major city can be overwhelming, and finding a work/life balance seems nearly impossible. To tackle this problem, That Industry Girl offers two types of monthly events for ladies who crave consistent social spaces and unique experiences.

In the Mix: Introductory social gatherings for ladies to mix and mingle in a casual setting.

In Sync: Premium events for ladies to deepen their connections and indulge in elevated experiences.

That Industry Girl invites LA locals and transplants to consistently embrace new experiences with quality women. Our events are for the girls who want authentic connections, elevated experiences and are eager to “live a lil” or live their life to the fullest. Each event encourages you to leave work at the door and come as you are. We believe working women deserve luxury, leisure, and connection – so we gladly gift it to every woman who attends our events.

What do you like best about our city? What do you like least?
I love that LA always has so many creatives in the city curating original experiences, concepts, and campaigns. The diversity is immense, and there’s always new music, new food, and new styles I’m seeing and embracing the longer I stay and take in LA.

That said, the traffic is horrendous. I can definitely do without it.
