Today we’d like to introduce you to Tomas Arceo.
Tomas, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
As a youngster of 10 years old, thereabouts, I would build plastic models of spaceships or planes and my brothers and I would blow them up! We’d film them with my father’s 8mm camera, using techniques we adapted from our favorite movies, such as time-lapse, slow-mo, stop-motion etc. Later, in college, I wasn’t satisfied with my engineering major and rediscovered the art of image-making. Transferring into the Art School, I excelled.
After graduating with a BFA, working as an assistant to commercial automotive photographers, I found the beauty of the American Southwest desert. I moved immediately to Los Angeles.
Since then, I have worked and traveled to 18 countries on 5 continents from the Arctic Circle to South Africa, pursuing my love of photography and filmmaking.
Has it been a smooth road?
My strong work ethic has garnered me a positive reputation amongst my peers.
That being said, the struggle these days is keeping relevant with regards to social media; i.e. those whom you haven’t met. The challenge is how to best use your networking skills.
We’d love to hear more about your business.
I specialize in imagery. Period.
Landscapes, portraits, films, whatever it takes to create the overall overwhelming beauty, oddity, unknown of that which we call life.
Together we can raise the bar above and beyond the ordinary. So, let’s collaborate!
Is our city a good place to do what you do?
Of course, Los Angeles is a great place for business. It’s the backbone of the image-making industry in this country. Our city is a fantastic place to begin with its varied locations and industry, but if one is truly willing, they can make it anywhere.
