Today we’d like to introduce you to Seraiyah Reddix.
Hi Seraiyah, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I took the leap to move out to Los Angeles in 2020…one of the most volatile times for most people around the world. I have always been an extremely creative and outgoing child and knew that the fashion industry is where I belonged. Starting at ten years old, I learned how to sew, starting with pillow covers and oven mitts, eventually graduating onto larger projects like clothing!
By the time I grew older, I honed in my passion and found I absolutely love behind-the-scenes work. The marketing strategies, the ideas flowing before design could even happen and from then on I knew my talent was a guide to find my true passion, Digital Marketing. I got accepted to the Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising in my junior year of high school. I went on to earn my AA in Merchandising and Marketing and am currently studying for my BA in Digital Marketing.
I love knowledge and soak up lessons like a sponge, all of this only fueled my excitement for the future. Simultaneously my mother, my biggest inspiration, was pursuing her dream of opening up a Cereal Cafe. We spent years pitching to investors, entering competitions and getting no’s and discouraging words saying there is no validity to what we believed we could do. Seeing how hard she worked and how she was willing to get turned down 100 times before even thinking twice about making her dream come true.
Fast forward to my Junior year, I have been a Social Media Intern for 18 months and worked my way through the departments always being willing to offer a helping hand so I can have as much hands-on experience as possible. I worked with production, influencer marketing, tracked analytics, led engagement, and assisted in organizing events. Once I got wind of my mother finally being approved for a location, I knew I was put into the position I was in to take my knowledge and pour into her dream.
Cerealism Cafe opened December 3rd, 2022 in Sacramento, CA. I left my position to become our full-time Marketing Coordinator. Since we have opened our doors, I have created an influencer program for us which has generated over 2 million views on Tik Tok and 16k followers in just five months. My dream has shifted to making our family’s small business a success and I am so excited to see how far Cerealism will go.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
My family and village of friends have assisted in making my journey one I would never do differently. Like a lot of college students me pursuing education would not be possible without a lot of loving hands helping. I am very grateful to have the support that I do but finding out how to navigate through emotional and financial stressors has been the biggest challenge for me.
Balancing school and full-time jobs is not the easiest feat. Having to think twice or maybe even three or four times about non-paid internships and certain opportunities because you do not have the privilege to just stop working was hard. Comparing yourself to others who have that leisure was something I had to overcome in order to build that confidence in myself and what I knew I was building for my family.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I am a Social Media Coordinator and UGC Creator!
I work with small companies to create social strategies for them across Tik Tok, Instagram, Facebook and Twitter. I create Influencer programs, feeds, graphics, product photography, interactive story posts, copy for everything and engagement on all platforms! We sit down and talk about their goals and create the best way to reach them and the audience they are trying to reach!
As far as UGC, I create promotional videos for Skincare Brands, Health & Wellness, Hair Stylists & Vendors as well as Cafes. I love content creation and through UGC I can create while still having a small follower count.
I work with small businesses more than anyone! I love to create content for those who I know it would impact in some way or possibly just need to be shown to my small LA-centered following.
So, before we go, how can our readers or others connect or collaborate with you? How can they support you?
