Life & Work with Beto Kauer, Vini Marmore and Boris Fratogianni

Today we’d like to introduce you to Beto Kauer, Vini Marmore and Boris Fratogianni. They and their team shared their story with us below:

Beto Kauer and Vini Marmore are two Brazilian musicians that played together in their previous band (Name The Band) for almost a decade. We started playing together and the punk rock band Damn High Yet was born. We were later joined by our good friend Boris Fratogianni on bass.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
The idea started with Beto and Vini circa 2017 while touring with Name The Band thru America, they decided that they wanted to play more aggressively and faster and DHY was born. It’s hard to keep up with two bands at the same time, but when the pandemic hit and Name The Band had to stop touring, we suddenly had a lot of time in our hands, so we released an EP (“Songs from Quarantine”) and recorded a music video for the song “Don’t Push Me Back”, which was edited by Matheus Tibira. In 2022 we recorded our full debut album in Beto’s garage in Highland Park, Los Angeles. The production was very DIY, and the album was later mixed and mastered by Adriano Cintra (CSS) – later in 2022, we released the album in vinyl. From that album, we released a music video for the song “I Don’t Know”, which was shot and directed by Ozan Yildirim in the Mojave desert.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
We’re a high-energy garage rock power trio with years of experience playing shows on the road. Boris was a founding member of the iconic underground Brazilian hardcore band Hateen and is heavily influenced by his underground roots. We’re proud of how much we were able to accomplish (recording and releasing an album, playing shows) in such a short amount of time, and can’t wait to continue finessing our voice to put out more and more music.

What would you say have been one of the most important lessons you’ve learned?
Just the fact that the band is a Brazilian band born in the US is a huge achievement for us, as we’re growing in the local scene and musical relations. We’re proud to be part of a scene that is coming back with raw dry punk power trio garage. We’re now very happy to be working on a new record, getting ready for some more local shows, as well as planning our first tour.
