Today we’d like to introduce you to Emma Rothschild.
Hi Emma, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I have always loved flowers. My grandpa was an avid gardener and put together flower arrangements and fruit plates constantly; a skill he passed down to my mom. Bitchin’ Blooms started during my first year of grad school when I realized all I could look at and think about were flowers. I emailed practically every flower shop, solo florist, and studio in LA to try and get a part-time position learning about floral design. When I finally got my foot in the door, I knew I had to figure out a way to make flowers a daily part of my life. I started posting my designs on Instagram during the beginning of spring 2022 and haven’t stopped since!
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It’s been a smooth road in the sense that I love what I do and am so happy to play with flowers every day. It can be tough to market and create content that shows people the fun of flowers but as cheesy as it sounds, I have such a great time learning about the floral industry and how to grow Bitchin’ Blooms.
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Bitchin’ Blooms is a small flower shop out of Santa Monica. We specialize in all things flowers focusing on the fun, colorful, and unique! When designing, we find what’s freshest at the market and make it pop. Bitchin’ Blooms is for those who love color, are a little funky, need something to brighten their day, really, Bitchin’ Blooms is for anyone, any occasion, any time. We love to bring the joy of flowers to everyone.
We deliver flowers anywhere in LA, Orange County, and Ventura County. We do one-off deliveries, subscriptions (weekly, bi-weekly, monthly), weddings, events, and store installations.
In terms of your work and the industry, what are some of the changes you are expecting to see over the next five to ten years?
I’m hoping we can figure out a way to make the floral industry more sustainable and environmentally friendly. No more floral foam!
I love that people are finding their love for flowers again and making them a big part of their life and I see this continuing and hopefully becoming even more prevalent!
