Today we’d like to introduce you to Macey Krause.
Hi Macey, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I was born and raised on the east coast, but always knew I would end up in California one day. My husband, Kyle and I moved to Los Angeles in May of 2020. We moved across the country with seven suitcases and our pup polly in the middle of a pandemic. Looking back, that seems crazy, but in the moment we KNEW we were exactly where we needed to be. I have always been a dreamer, but the moment we landed in Los Angeles it felt like every “LID” I ever felt was taken off. This city is magical, I’ve never felt more empowered to dream bigger dreams and go after them.
I wear many different hats and do many different things, but long story short – I believe that inspiring stories deserve captivating content. Whether it is a brand, bride, or destination – stories are important and I want to capture it in a way that uniquely displays that.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Everyone’s life and story look different; therefore struggles look and feel different to everyone. I’ve had my fair share of highs and my fair share of lows, but overall I am so thankful for my life and the people that are in it.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am in a constant state of dreaming about what is next! I live in Santa Monica and I am a photographer and content creator. I believe that inspiring stories deserve captivating content. My ideal content to create is content for travel and brands. In September 2022 we took a trip to Maui to create content for an amazing hotel there. It is a dream come true to be able to travel and tell stories for businesses, brands, spaces, and people. You can check out my work here: maceykrause.com/brands
On top of being a creative, in April of 2022 we purchased our first rental property in Central Florida and our Airbnb, Somewhere Summer CO, was BORN!
I love our little Airbnb so much. Summer is my favorite season and if I could spend every day at the beach, I would. Summer is a time to rest, relax, and retreat and that is exactly why I created the Somewhere Summer Co House. It’s always summer somewhere, it’s a place where people can retreat with us any time of year. When designing the home, I wanted to create a space where guests immediately felt relaxed and were able to live their best summertime life.
The home offers an open design, California aesthetic, beachy prints and decor, a bright and clean feeling, and more. As soon as you enter, you feel at rest and like you are on Summer Vacation. Here is the link to our home. https://airbnb.com/h/
What makes us different from other Airbnbs? The Majority of the product in our home is available for purchase! Every beachy print in our home was taken by me in either Hawaii or Santa Monica. Designing and creating the space was the MOST exciting process to me. I linked everything we used on my amazon storefront as well as designed special products specifically for the home. This creates an even more exciting experience for our guests where they can purchase all the decor in our home during their stay or when they leave! Even if someone has never stayed at the Airbnb, they have the opportunity to create a summertime experience wherever they are. Why? Because summer looks good on you!

What would you say have been one of the most important lessons you’ve learned?
Being a creative, especially being in LA – it is SO easy for feelings of imposter syndrome to creep in. I have to continually remind myself that EVERY room I walk into, every meeting I am a part of, every table I end up at – that I belong there. I don’t belong because of what I can do, but I belong because of who I am.
I am learning to focus on who I’m becoming rather than focusing on the goals I have or tasks I need to accomplish. In a city where everyone is focused on who they know or what they can do, I have made it a discipline to enjoy every part of the journey. I can be the world’s BIGGEST dreamer, but the reality is all I have is this present moment. I want to live a life where I enjoy each moment and surround myself with people I love.
