Check Out Sharon Robinson’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Sharon Robinson.

Hi Sharon, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I am an independent actress in Chicago Illinois who started acting professionally in 2020. As a child, in grammar school, I was always in the drama clubs and doing stage plays where acting became my passion. I was always reminded by everyone who truly knew me how smart & talented I was. I was always told that I needed to be an actress and that I should have my own tv show because I was so silly & super funny. I could imitate pretty much anyone. I also was told how pretty I was as a child, which brought forth the inspiration to become a model. At the age of 15 I participated in a beauty pageant at the Hyatt Regency downtown Chicago in 2002, only making to top 10 finals because my parents couldn’t afford to pay for the competitions. I come from a low-income family, so the finer things in life were very limited. Unfortunately, once I graduated high school, I became a young single mother of two sons by the age of 24. In 2010 I became homeless with my children for a year. In the same year, I became a faith believer which became the start of my spiritual journey. That’s when I began to put my life back together, met my husband at church, got married and went back to school to become a medical assistant. My husband and I became business owners, and my children were also doing very well. Things were finally going great until the sudden deaths of my grandmother, both grandfathers, my brother, my sister-in-law and my cousin. I At that time span of my life I was experiencing too many deaths within two years. My brother’s death took a huge toll on my mental, emotional & physical health on top of experiencing the duration of the covid pandemic. I became very depression even suicidal. I had no outlet to comfort my trauma, so I found myself giving up on life. I needed to find a therapy. So, one day scrolling Facebook I came across casting calls and began doing auditions, landing my first role in 2020. Now within two years and a half, I have built a name for myself with eight streaming movies & three tv series appearances. With most of the movies streaming on Tubi, Amazon and BET+. I had beat a life of depression with my passion for acting. I love what I do. Today I am still working hard in the independent movie industry and my goal is to become a Hollywood actress one day, working with well-known directors like Tyler Perry & Lena White.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
The biggest challenges that I have faced on my journey is being a full-time mother, a full-time nurse assistant while going against a very demanding & competitive industry while trying to work a career and being flexible to be on the movie sets. And it is also very hard to obtain an “agent” for an independent actress in Chicago with millions of new talents applying every day.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
Besides being an independent actress. I am a full-time mother to two teen sons. One plays drums for his high school band, and another is a basketball player of many leagues. I’m also a great help in my church, helping with outreach ministry, introducing people to the knowledge & love of God. Where I assist my Pastor Quinton L Bolton c/o Dr. Mark Webb, who loves to help the homeless and people of poverty on the west side of Chicago while spreading the gospel of Jesus Christ. Also, alongside my husband, we own two semi-trucks and rental property. I also plan to open my very own upscale massage/spa lounge in Chicago one day soon.

What matters most to you? Why?
What matters to me the most is me leaving a legacy of love & a positive influence on every person that I come in contact with. I also want to be a living proof to other inspiring actors & actresses that anything is possible if you truly believe in yourself. I want my story to impact all people in a powerful way that it may bring a ray of light into their life. I hope to inspire many others to want to do the same for other people in a positive way.
