Today we’d like to introduce you to Darren Weiss.
Hi Darren, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I took an acting class in college as an elective, it was that or engineering. It was the first time in my life I had looked forward to going to class. From that class, I just fell in love with everything having to do with acting. I moved to La and started taking classes in 2017. From there booked my first feature film, and have since worked with that director twice more. I have since been fortunate enough to work in Greece, New Jersey and the paramount lot, something I use to drive by every day when I first moved to LA five years ago. I just recently produced and played the lead in a Film titled ‘Break’.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It’s never a smooth road, anyone that tells you the contrary I’d like to meet. Acting is not like pursing a career as doctor or lawyer, everyone has a different road, there is no blueprint. I think my biggest struggle has just been to not let rejection knock me down. In this business there is a lot of rejection, you never know how close you are to doing something that could change your life, you just have to stay positive and believe in what you are doing.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I am an actor and producer. What I am most proud of is having a vision for a film, developing the script, and then producing and playing the lead in it. It was truly the most fulfilling and accomplishing thing I have ever done. I think something I take pride in is my relationships with people, how I treat them and make them feel, and my relentlessness to keep fighting for what I want.
If you had to, what characteristic of yours would you give the most credit to?
Being true and comfortable with who I am, who I surround my self with, and the standard I hold myself to.
