Conversations with Sheila D. Simmons

Today we’d like to introduce you to Sheila D. Simmons. Sheila shares her story with us below:

Sheila D. Simmons is a real estate agent who primarily serves the Westside of Los Angeles as well as Beverly Hills and Bel Air; however, she sells where her clients desire to live. Sheila launched her real estate career coupled with an interior design background in New York City (where she studied Interior Design at Parsons The New School for Design). Sheila attributes her oeuvre to having lived on both coasts. “I feel fortunate that I am a hybrid and my persona reflects both the west coast and east coast. Clients are savvy, well traveled and know what they want. It is paramount to immerse oneself in arts, culture, design and the real estate market. It is about living the best of the best and translating those experiences into finding the perfect home and creating a luxurious lifestyle. It does not matter if it is Central Park West or Malibu, clients have a vision, an image to which they aspire.” Sheila also collaborated with elite NYC architects and designers who have carved the luxury market. To say she understands elevated service and the luxury market is an understatement.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Real estate agents work on full commission. When you close a transaction, you are out of a job. You have to start over. Lead Generation is the single most important factor. It is your number one job. Make sure your lead pipeline is full. Create relationships with everyone. One never knows when a friend of a friend needs to buy or sell a house or a condo. Here are a few favorite quotes:

“It’s not how far you fall, but how high you bounce that counts.” — Zig Ziglar

“Success is not final, failure is not fatal: It is the courage to continue that counts.” — Winston Churchill

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I help people find their dream home. I find solutions that facilitate their home-buying or selling process and am there to negotiate on their behalf. Clients span from first-time home buyers to luxury-property buyers to portfolio investors. My interior design background, world travels, NYC exposure coupled with my LA lifestyle provide an element that fulfills a niche.

What matters most to you?
It is important to stay humble and to stay grateful. Clients become like family. It is important to gain their trust. It is important to deliver exceptional service. Nothing has prepared me for providing elevated service than working in real estate and interior design in New York City. I am glad I have had the opportunity to cut my teeth in a market that raises the bar and sets standards aligned with the demands of a global network. I sculpted my pedigree, work ethic and strategic negotiating skills from my astute New York City clients where a nothing-less-than-superior mindset dictated the embodiment of success. With an interior design background, art history background, world travels and museums visited around the world, I not only understand my clients, I can empathize with their wants and needs. I meet the demands of the elevated service they desire regardless of their budget.

Also, community matters most to me. I am proud to be involved in the Brentwood community. I serve as a Brentwood Community Council board member. I try to volunteer as much as possible for Village for Vets and The Giving Spirit. I also like to assist with our senior community whether it be distributing info that provides access to senior services or whether it be giving them rides to and from the market.
